City DescriptionGrambling is a city in Lincoln Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 4,693 at the 2000 census. The city is home to Grambling State University and is part of the Ruston Micropolitan Statistical Area.
Grambling was designated a "City" in the early 1990s (either in 1992 or 1993), but was erroneously considered a "Town" during the 2000 census.
Grambling is located at 32°31′39″N 92°42′50″W / 32.5275, -92.71389 (32.527427, -92.713987).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 5.5 square miles (14.3 km²), of which, 5.5 square miles (14.2 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.36%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 4,693 people, 1,173 households, and 649 families residing in the town. The population density was 855.4 people per square mile (330.1/km²). There were 1,408 housing units at an average density of 256.6/sq mi (99.0/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 1.07% White, 97.10% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.15% Asian, 0.53% from other races, and 1.04% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.98% of the population.
