City DescriptionFlorien is a village in Sabine Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 692 at the 2000 census.
Florien is located at 31°26′35″N 93°27′29″W / 31.44306, -93.45806 (31.443145, -93.457999).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 5.8 km² (2.2 mi²), all land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 692 people, 258 households, and 190 families residing in the village. The population density was 120.4/km² (311.5/mi²). There were 312 housing units at an average density of 54.3/km² (140.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the village was 71.24% White, 27.02% African American, 0.87% Native American, 0.14% from other races, and 0.72% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.02% of the population.
There were 258 households out of which 41.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.4% were married couples living together, 15.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.0% were non-families. 24.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.68 and the average family size was 3.19.
