City DescriptionDeQuincy is the northernmost city in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 3,398 at the 2000 census. DeQuincy is part of the Lake Charles Metropolitan Statistical Area.
DeQuincy is located at 30°27′3″N 93°26′8″W / 30.45083, -93.43556 (30.450915, -93.435613).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.2 square miles (8.3 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 3,398 people, 1,332 households, and 916 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,066.1 people per square mile (411.3/km²). There were 1,500 housing units at an average density of 470.6/sq mi (181.6/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 79.25% White, 19.07% African American, 0.53% Native American, 0.18% Asian, 0.18% from other races, and 0.79% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.82% of the population.
