City DescriptionBrusly is a town in West Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 2,020 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Statistical Area.
The town was established in 1901. Brusly High School serves the area's secondary education needs. The school's nickname is Panthers. Their colors are red and gold. Historic Cinclare Sugar Mill is located on LA Highway 1.
Brusly is located at 30°23′26″N 91°14′30″W / 30.39056, -91.24167 (30.390470, -91.241797).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.2 square miles (5.7 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,020 people, 749 households, and 587 families residing in the town. The population density was 924.1 people per square mile (356.1/km²). There were 783 housing units at an average density of 358.2/sq mi (138.0/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 72.77% Caucasian, 25.74% African American, 0.15% Native American, 0.15% Asian, 0.15% Pacific Islander, 0.25% from other races, and 0.79% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.89% of the population.
