City DescriptionBelcher is a village in Caddo Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 272 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Shreveport–Bossier City Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Belcher is located at 32°45′2″N 93°50′2″W / 32.75056, -93.83389 (32.750518, -93.833772).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 4.0 km² (1.6 mi²), all land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 272 people, 99 households, and 78 families residing in the village. The population density was 67.3/km² (174.7/mi²). There were 107 housing units at an average density of 26.5/km² (68.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the village was 75.37% White, 23.90% African American and 0.74% Native American.
There were 99 households out of which 41.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.7% were married couples living together, 9.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.2% were non-families. 17.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.75 and the average family size was 3.13.
