City DescriptionWayland is a city in Floyd County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 298 at the 2000 census.
Wayland is located at 37°26′43″N 82°48′4″W / 37.44528, -82.80111 (37.445289, -82.801131).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.8 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 298 people, 118 households, and 86 families residing in the city. The population density was 430.6 people per square mile (166.8/km²). There were 133 housing units at an average density of 192.2/sq mi (74.4/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 99.66% White, and 0.34% from two or more races.
There were 118 households out of which 32.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.9% were married couples living together, 15.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.1% were non-families. 25.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 3.07.
