City DescriptionUpton is a city in Hardin and LaRue Counties in the U.S. state of Kentucky. The population was 654 at the 2000 census. It is included in the Elizabethtown, Kentucky Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Upton is located at 37°27′44″N 85°53′43″W / 37.46222, -85.89528 (37.462175, -85.895335).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.5 square miles (4.0 km²), all land. US Highway 31-W runs through the middle of town. Upton can be reached from exit 76 on Interstate 65.
As of the census of 2000, there were 654 people, 283 households, and 189 families residing in the city. The population density was 422.9 people per square mile (162.9/km²). There were 322 housing units at an average density of 208.2/sq mi (80.2/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 96.79% White, 0.76% African American, 0.15% Pacific Islander, 0.15% from other races, and 2.14% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.46% of the population.
