City DescriptionStearns is a census-designated place (CDP) in McCreary County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,586 at the 2000 census.
Stearns is located at 36°41′53″N 84°28′36″W / 36.69806, -84.47667 (36.697976, -84.476776).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 4.0 square miles (10.4 km²), of which, 4.0 square miles (10.4 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.50%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,586 people, 641 households, and 464 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 396.7 people per square mile (153.1/km²). There were 707 housing units at an average density of 176.8/sq mi (68.2/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 98.36% White, 0.95% Native American, 0.06% from other races, and 0.63% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.38% of the population.
