City DescriptionSlaughters is a city in Webster County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 238 at the 2000 census. Pioneer Gustavis Slaughter won the right to name the city in a card game in 1855.
CSX Railroad runs through Slaughters and operates a siding track that is named after the city.
Slaughters is located at 37°29′23″N 87°30′3″W / 37.48972, -87.50083 (37.489849, -87.500946).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.2 square miles (0.6 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 238 people, 93 households, and 70 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,049.7 people per square mile (399.5/km²). There were 104 housing units at an average density of 458.7/sq mi (174.6/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 99.58% White and 0.42% Asian.
There were 93 households out of which 33.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.4% were married couples living together, 10.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.7% were non-families. 21.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
