City Description

Seneca Gardens is a city in Jefferson County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 699 at the 2000 census. Seneca Gardens is located at 38°13′35″N 85°40′41″W / 38.22639, -85.67806 (38.226420, -85.677987). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.2 square miles (0.4 km²), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 699 people, 294 households, and 211 families residing in the city. The population density was 4,286.1 people per square mile (1,686.8/km²). There were 305 housing units at an average density of 1,870.2/sq mi (736.0/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.00% White, 1.29% African American, 0.14% Asian, and 0.57% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.00% of the population. There were 294 households out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.6% were married couples living together, 6.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.9% were non-families. 23.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.84. In the
