City DescriptionScottsville is a city in and the county seat of Allen County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 4,327 at the 2000 census.
Scottsville is located at 36°45′5″N 86°11′34″W / 36.75139, -86.19278 (36.751504, -86.192692).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.8 square miles (14.9 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 4,327 people, 1,839 households, and 1,191 families residing in the city. The population density was 749.6 people per square mile (289.5/km²). There were 2,059 housing units at an average density of 356.7/sq mi (137.8/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 95.49% White, 3.28% African American, 0.02% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.37% from other races, and 0.72% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.81% of the population.
There were 1,839 households out of which 29.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.8% were married couples living together, 15.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.2% were non-families. 32.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or ...
