City DescriptionPark City is a city in Barren County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 517 at the 2000 census. It has historically served as a gateway to nearby Mammoth Cave National Park and Diamond Caverns, a privately-owned cave attraction.
Park City is part of the Glasgow, Kentucky Micropolitan Statistical Area.
The city had three other names during its history:
The name was officially changed to Park City in 1938. This has occasionally caused confusion with nearby Bowling Green, Kentucky, which historically called itself "The Park City"; Bowling Green's daily newspaper still has "Park City" on its front page nameplate.
Park City is located at 37°5′39″N 86°2′54″W / 37.09417, -86.04833 (37.094181, -86.048309). Interstate 65 passes through, as does the CSX Transportation rail line (former L&N).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.7 square miles (4.4 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 517 people, 237 households, and 142 families residing in the city. The population density was 303.5 people per square mile (117.4/km²).
