City Description

Lynnview is a city in Jefferson County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 965 at the 2000 census. There are plans to move the Louisville Metro Humane Society to Lynnview by 2008. Lynnview is located at 38°10′44″N 85°42′37″W / 38.17889, -85.71028 (38.178919, -85.710259). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.2 square miles (0.5 km²), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 965 people, 435 households, and 281 families residing in the city. The population density was 5,132.5 people per square mile (1,961.0/km²). There were 446 housing units at an average density of 2,372.1/sq mi (906.3/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.03% White, 0.52% African American, 0.10% Pacific Islander, 0.21% from other races, and 1.14% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.73% of the population. There were 435 households out of which 27.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.6% were married couples living together, 14.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.4% were non-families. 31.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.5% had someone living alone who was 65
