City DescriptionLa Grange is a city in Oldham County, Kentucky, United States. It was founded in 1827 and named after the French home of General Lafayette. The population was 5,676 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Oldham County.
La Grange is located at 38°24′24″N 85°22′46″W / 38.40667, -85.37944 (38.406612, -85.379382).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.8 square miles (9.8 km²), of which, 3.8 square miles (9.7 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (1.06%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 5,676 people, 2,216 households, and 1,502 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,514.8 people per square mile (584.4/km²). There were 2,330 housing units at an average density of 621.8/sq mi (239.9/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 90.47% White, 5.09% African American, 0.18% Native American, 0.39% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 2.33% from other races, and 1.50% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.56% of the population.
