City Description

Hollow Creek is a city in Jefferson County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 815 at the 2000 census. Hollow Creek is located at 38°9′2″N 85°37′29″W / 38.15056, -85.62472 (38.150664, -85.624853). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.2 square miles (0.6 km²), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 815 people, 309 households, and 262 families residing in the city. The population density was 3,661.2 people per square mile (1,430.3/km²). There were 315 housing units at an average density of 1,415.0/sq mi (552.8/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 93.74% White, 4.54% African American, 0.74% Native American, and 0.98% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.49% of the population. There were 309 households out of which 28.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 76.1% were married couples living together, 6.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 14.9% were non-families. 13.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
