City DescriptionElsmere is a city in Kenton County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 8,139 at the 2000 census. The city was named after Elsmere Avenue in Norwood, Ohio.
The mayor is Billy Bradford, the first African-American mayor elected in Northern Kentucky. He was first elected in 1998.
Elsmere is located at 39°0′5″N 84°36′11″W / 39.00139, -84.60306 (39.001475, -84.603116).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.5 square miles (6.5 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 8,139 people, 3,001 households, and 2,223 families residing in the city. The population density was 3,256.2 people per square mile (1,257.0/km²). There were 3,126 housing units at an average density of 1,250.6/sq mi (482.8/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 92.11% White, 5.47% African American, 0.16% Native American, 0.33% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.57% from other races, and 1.31% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.52% of the population.
