    Troy is a city in Doniphan County, Kansas, United States. The population was 1,054 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Doniphan County. Troy is part of the St. Joseph, MO–KS Metropolitan Statistical Area. Troy is located at 39°47′17″N 95°5′27″W / 39.78806, -95.09083 (39.788099, -95.090840). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.9 km²), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 1,054 people, 439 households, and 295 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,473.4 people per square mile (565.2/km²). There were 474 housing units at an average density of 662.6/sq mi (254.2/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.77% White, 0.28% African American, 0.28% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.09% from other races, and 0.47% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.04% of the population.
