City DescriptionSmolan is a city in Saline County, Kansas, United States. The population was 218 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Salina Micropolitan Statistical Area.
Smolan is located at 38°44′17″N 97°41′2″W / 38.73806, -97.68389 (38.738009, -97.683940).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.1 square miles (0.4 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 218 people, 79 households, and 63 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,575.5 people per square mile (601.2/km²). There were 83 housing units at an average density of 599.9/sq mi (228.9/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 97.71% White, 0.46% African American, 0.46% Native American, 1.38% from other races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.50% of the population.
There were 79 households out of which 41.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.4% were married couples living together, 6.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 19.0% were non-families. 16.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 2.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
