City Description

Roseland is a city in Cherokee County, Kansas, United States. The population was 101 at the 2000 census. The community was named after Louis Rose. Roseland is located at 37°16′50″N 94°51′5″W / 37.28056, -94.85139 (37.280671, -94.851489). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.8 square miles (2.1 km²), all of it land. Roseland is on K-102, west of its junction with K-7. As of the census of 2000, there were 101 people, 39 households, and 28 families residing in the city. The population density was 125.9 people per square mile (48.7/km²). There were 49 housing units at an average density of 61.1/sq mi (23.6/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 96.04% White, and 3.96% from two or more races. There were 39 households out of which 30.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.3% were married couples living together, 10.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.2% were non-families. 25.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 20.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
