City DescriptionRepublic is a city in Republic County, Kansas, United States. The population was 161 at the 2000 census.
Republic is located at 39°55′25″N 97°49′21″W / 39.92361, -97.8225 (39.923636, -97.822412).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.7 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 162 people, 84 households, and 49 families residing in the city. The population density was 616.0 people per square mile (239.1/km²). There were 108 housing units at an average density of 413.2/sq mi (160.4/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 99.38% White and 0.62% Native American. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.86% of the population.
There were 84 households out of which 20.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.8% were married couples living together, 4.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 40.5% were non-families. 38.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 21.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 1.92 and the average family size was 2.50.
