According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.8 square miles (2.0 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 923 people, 353 households, and 242 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,220.9 people per square mile (468.9/km²). There were 380 housing units at an average density of 502.6/sq mi (193.1/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 95.45% White, 2.71% Native American, 0.11% from other races, and 1.73% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.52% of the population.
There were 353 households out of which 37.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.1% were married couples living together, 12.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.2% were non-families. 26.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.61 and the average family size was 3.18.
