City DescriptionPlainville is a city in Rooks County, Kansas, in the United States. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 2,029.
Plainville is located at 39°13′56″N 99°18′11″W / 39.23222, -99.30306 (39.232102, -99.303166).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,029 people, 865 households, and 565 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,683.4 people per square mile (647.4/km²). There were 948 housing units at an average density of 786.5/sq mi (302.5/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.42% White, 0.39% African American, 0.39% Native American, 0.20% Asian, and 0.59% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.30% of the population.
There were 865 households out of which 28.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.9% were married couples living together, 8.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.6% were non-families. 31.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 18.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
