According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.8 square miles (2.2 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,173 people, 465 households, and 327 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,401.8 people per square mile (539.2/km²). There were 503 housing units at an average density of 601.1/sq mi (231.2/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 95.99% White, 0.09% African American, 1.71% Native American, 0.17% Asian, 0.26% from other races, and 1.79% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.28% of the population.
