City Description

New Cambria is a city in Saline County, Kansas, United States. The population was 150 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Salina Micropolitan Statistical Area. New Cambria is located at 38°52′43″N 97°30′21″W / 38.87861, -97.50583 (38.878504, -97.505730). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.1 square miles (0.3 km²), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 150 people, 57 households, and 44 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,463.7 people per square mile (579.2/km²). There were 66 housing units at an average density of 644.0/sq mi (254.8/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 96.67% White, 1.33% African American, and 2.00% from two or more races. There were 57 households out of which 36.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.6% were married couples living together, 12.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.1% were non-families. 15.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 1.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
