City DescriptionMinneapolis is a city in Ottawa County, Kansas, United States. The population was 2,046 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Ottawa County. It shares its name with the much larger and more famous city of Minneapolis, Minnesota, as well as the small township of Minneapolis, North Carolina. Rock City is located just southwest of town.
Minneapolis is part of the Salina Micropolitan Statistical Area.
Minneapolis is located at 39°7′29″N 97°42′19″W / 39.12472, -97.70528 (39.124719, -97.705209).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.7 square miles (4.5 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,046 people, 810 households, and 512 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,173.6 people per square mile (454.0/km²). There were 914 housing units at an average density of 524.3/sq mi (202.8/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 96.97% White, 1.32% African American, 0.24% Native American, 0.05% Asian, 0.29% from other races, and 1.12% from two or more races.
