City DescriptionMcCracken is a city in Rush County, Kansas, United States. The population was 211 at the 2000 census.
McCracken is located at 38°35′6″N 99°34′19″W / 38.585, -99.57194 (38.585088, -99.571981).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.0 square miles (2.5 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 211 people, 106 households, and 57 families residing in the city. The population density was 220.8 people per square mile (84.9/km²). There were 139 housing units at an average density of 145.5/sq mi (55.9/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.10% White, 0.47% Native American, and 1.42% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.47% of the population.
There were 106 households out of which 24.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.4% were married couples living together, 8.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 45.3% were non-families. 44.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 28.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 1.99 and the average family size was 2.74.
