City DescriptionLeona is a city in Doniphan County, Kansas, United States. The population was 88 at the 2000 census. It is part of the St. Joseph, MO–KS Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Leona is located at 39°47′9″N 95°19′20″W / 39.78583, -95.32222 (39.785798, -95.322158), along the Wolf River.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.1 square miles (0.2 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 88 people, 29 households, and 20 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,355.6 people per square mile (566.3/km²). There were 31 housing units at an average density of 477.5/sq mi (199.5/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 93.18% White, 5.68% Native American, 1.14% from other races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.14% of the population.
There were 29 households out of which 34.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 31.0% were married couples living together, 27.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.0% were non-families. 24.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
