City Description

Lenora is a city in Norton County, Kansas, United States. The population was 306 at the 2000 census. Lenora is located at 39°36′40″N 100°0′5″W / 39.61111, -100.00139 (39.610975, -100.001391). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.5 square miles (1.2 km²), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 306 people, 141 households, and 83 families residing in the city. The population density was 633.8 people per square mile (246.1/km²). There were 196 housing units at an average density of 405.9/sq mi (157.7/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 96.41% White, 0.98% African American, 0.33% Asian, and 2.29% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.31% of the population. There were 141 households out of which 21.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.6% were married couples living together, 5.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 41.1% were non-families. 38.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 19.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
