Wow, 80+ on a Saturday and Sunday in November!! There are times when I am discouraged at living in Kansas, but last weekend was not one of them.

Scattered morning showers are speckling the Wichita area, and more showers are expected late tonight.

The broadcast journalists earned national attention for taking shelter beneath an underpass on the Kansas Turnpike as a tornado bore down on them in the Flint Hills on April 26, 1991.

It happened around 12:30 Sunday afternoon on Highway 177 north of the Chase/Butler County line.

The other day, my wife and I were driving northward through the Flint Hills from Cassoday toward Matfield Green on Kansas Highway 177.

Fox Lake normally doesn't touch a single step that leads down to it. But on Friday, the water covered over half and more than just splash against the banks that are now barely holding it in.
