City DescriptionCarbondale is a city in Osage County, Kansas, United States. It is part of the Topeka, Kansas Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 1,478 at the 2000 census.
Founded in 1872, the community is served by Santa Fe Trail school district USD 434, which also serves Scranton and Overbrook. The Carbondale attendance center houses grades K-8 and in 2007 had enrollment of 326 students.
Carbondale is the birthplace of the famous paleontologist, Barnum Brown. Distinguished American aviator Daniel Forbes,Jr. was born in Carbondale. He is the namesake for Forbes Air Force Base, now Forbes Airfield in Topeka, Kansas. Carbondale was home to Jarrah Myers Notre Dame all-American softball player and member of the 2001 USA team.
From 1906 to 1908 the Daughters of the American Revolution of Kansas placed sixty-six markers along the path of the Santa Fe Trail as it ran through Kansas. Number seventeen is located in Carbondale.
The Carbondale City Library is located inside the City building in Carbondale, Kansas. The library opened in 1971 and is a member of the Northeast Kansas Library System, NEKLS. What is the price of living in Kansas City and do you think it's better that Carbondale?

I'm moving and I wanted to move to Kansas City but I don't know how high the price of living is there? Is it better there then here? Are there a lot of apartments and houses for rent or for sale? If so what part of Kansas City? I'm trying to find some where close to a cheap gas station, not to far from a store or to, and Brown Mackie College. The smallest amount to bedrooms 3 but I'm hoping for 4 and 2 bathrooms. But whatever is possibly.

I'm not sure which Carbondale you are referring to, so I can't really compare the cost of living. However, for a major US city, the cost of living is fairly low in KC. A gallon of gas is going for below the national average...today it was 3.96 at my neighborhood gas station. I live in the suburbs on the Kansas side of the city, in Lenexa actually, where Brown Mackie is located. If you would like to live in Lenexa, I would recommend Charter House or Rosehill Point apartment complexes as they are both located near gas stations and a Hy-Vee grocery store, as well other conveniences like fast food, post office, Blockbuster, city hall, etc. There are also several homes for rent in the area. If you're looking for cheap(er) gas, you will want to live on the Missouri side. There are several apartment complexes around State Line Road and Wornall Road near I-435 which would be fairly easy access to Lenexa. The rent in this area will probably be cheaper as well. i don't know how this will work but do a google search for 'hard money lender' and mail a few of them and make clear you asking for assistance in purchasing a house on a rent to buy basis... most hard money lenders are property investors who are going to make money off of you this way, but it'll also benefit you, as you by the sound of it don't have a good credit rating. Just be honest about it and hopefully the right person might come forward.
Also if you life in that area, try placing an add in the paper stating exactly what you need and asking for help.
Before you enter into any deal, be sure to get in contact with a Real Estate Agent and find out what the average sales prize is for a home that you are interested in (eg 3bed 2bath), as there might be some ppl trying to trick you as well. You should only pay the average sales prize, not a dime more. Good Investors are interested in making a good deal for themselfs as well as YOU.
