Burns is located at 38°5′26″N, 96°53′14″W (38.090692, -96.887103).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.9 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 268 people, 101 households, and 79 families residing in the city. The population density was 755.6 people per square mile (295.6/km²). There were 116 housing units at an average density of 327.1/sq mi (128.0/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.51% White, 0.75% African American and 0.75% Native American.
There were 101 households out of which 36.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.4% were married couples living together, 10.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.8% were non-families. 17.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. What can I do while driving by myself from Kansas City to Colorado?

I'm driving by myself to Colorado tomorrow and I need something to do to pass the time. My stereo was stolen this summer and I got it replaced but the radio doesn't work. My cds were also stolen as well. I think I will die if I have to sit in dead silence for 10 hours. I'm going to Italy this summer so it would be nice to be able to brush up on my Italian. Does anyone know of where I could download some tutorials to burn to a cd or have any suggestions of something else I could do?

Go to NPR and down load a bunch of MP3 to your laptop. You might be able to find some Italian podcasts. You will need an inverter (about $20) so you can use the lighter to keep your laptop going.

Why are we not doing more to deminish that horrible church in Kansas? The Phelps families who are tormenting?

There are seventy people who are going around tormenting high school graduations, church services and funerals for loved ones. They say soldiers will burn in hell and that they deserved to die and that our children are going to hell. They even said those Amish girls deserved to die. Why are we as a country allowing this. Why are not more people speaking out about these horrible, devil people? Shirley Phelps-Roper and Fred Phelps (I refuse to call him a Rev) are people who plan their lives on destroying others and bashing our counrty. I am proud to be an American and for the freedom this country stands for. I thought more people felt the way I did, and if they do, why aren't they speaking out? An entire country vs. 70 people? Who should win that battle? Help by speaking out, and sending letters and emails to these physco people and let it be known that we will not stand for this. Who agrees with me?

My son just started head start in Topeka Kansas. School starts at 12.30 The bus didnt come until after 1.15 school gets out at 4.00 My 4 year old little boy just got home at 5.30. What would you do as a parent. I reported it to durum bus services and to the school. They said that their were 50 kids on the bus did i mention no airconditioning. And he is burning up now. He says hes to hot. and doesnt feel good, neather fo i I was sick with worry.

I'm actually in salina, but I was on my bike with my son in his bike trailer, and a durum bus driver wasn't using its turn signal and almost hit us. I will so home school. Or take my kid to school myself. But I would do more than report him to durum bus people. I would get a hold of the school board if that happened. They would be fired the next day.

Is it possible to get irritation sores from wiping too vigorously after peeing?

I recently had a cold/sinus infection. So I did what the doctors typically tell you to do: drink lots of fluids. 8 ounces of water or OJ almost every hour 3-4 days later, I of course had to pee extensively everyday! (Much more than I am used to, because I am not usually conscious of my health enough to drink the recommended amount of water per day.)
So, of course, fearing wetness, I wipe vigorously. Perhaps too vigorously; I start noticing I have irritation down there after the 2nd or 3rd day or so, and I only notice when I wipe. Urine does not hurt or sting, regular vaginal secretion does not hurt or sting (nor come to think of it smell odd), my fiance is stationed in Kansas, so I've not seen any action, if you will, since about March (already had a screen since then, no STD's.) Only change is the amount of fluid intake, and output, and switching from NuvaRing back onto Yasmin.
So my question is, are these sores (which *kinda*resemble* burns) related to wiping too much or too hard?

Does anyone have a recipe for Orchard Bread?

A Kansas City bakery makes a wonderful dense and sweet loaf its calls Orchard bread. The ingredients include organic wheat flour, levain, apricots, apples, raisins, walnuts, sea salt, yeast and malt. The loaf gets very dark on the outside, but it does not have a burned taste and the crumb is sturdy, but not too heavy. I've not had any luck finding any recipies like this bread. This is a yeast bread, but my searches for these ingredients have brought up mainly quick bread recipes. The bakery is only open three days a week and is far from my home (it used to work nearby and got hooked), so I'd like to be able to make something close to this loaf myself at home.
Answer:
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup sugar
1 cup apricots, apples, raisins
3 eggs
2 3/4 cups organic wheat flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
3 tablespoons frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cream butter; gradually add sugar, mixing well.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Mix together next 5 ingredients; add to creamed mixture alternately with the peaches, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
Stir in orange juice concentrate and vanilla.
Pour batter into a greased and floured 9 x 5 x 3-inch loafpan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
Cool in pan 10 minutes.
Remove from loafpan and cool completely.

From the websites I found, it says that there are 410 Acres of Water around Lake Shawnee. I could not find the actual distance around it though. You can call the parks department (the number is on the link page) and ask them.

What do you think about the protesters who go to soldiers funeral with signs like"thank god for dead soldiers?

they are from a church in kansas and right now they are planning to be at a funeral in flushing for a soldier who died after months of sufering from burns recieved by a bomb in iraq.

Is burning a lawn legal?

My father always says that as a child my grandfather burned the lawn the make everything grow better. But now he thinks he can burn our lawn again saying "It's going to help the lawn and I did it as a kid and it was fine." But he grew up in a town with about 100 people and now we leave in a city with about 50,000 people. To get to the point, is it legal in Kansas to burn lawns in city limits? I'd like to know before he actually burns the lawn and gets in trouble.

Call City Hall or the local fire department and ask them if it is legal. If it is, you may need a burn permit.
Fertilizer is cheap, much more effective and it won't anger any neighbors or make black streaks on the carpet.

How do you remove the commentary when copying a dvd to your hard drive?

ok my friend made a DVD about his trip to kansas and he added a comentary, he is very good and used menu acess so you can see the dvd with or with out commentary but whenever i burn the dvd to my hard drive it will always play with commentary, is there a way to filter this out

What did I see in the sky last Friday night?

I live in Kansas City and I saw something "falling" in he northern sky last Friday (8-22) at twilight. It moved slowly and persisted for several seconds. It moved more like something falling from a degrading orbit as opposed to a meteor. It burned almost like a firework, but was not a firework. It was too slow and too persistent. I looked on space.com and saw no reference to anything as well as the local news. Anyone with any ideas- let me know. Thanks.

It is interesting that when presidents get into trouble they often quote Lincoln?! I have even read and heard how George Walker Bush is now being compared to Lincoln. The comparison between Lincoln's constitutional violations versus Bush's PATRIOT ACT is indeed disconcerting. Violating the Constitution and the Bill of Rights by both these presidents can only be measured by the outside influences of the international bankers and the multinational corporations. In defense of Lincoln, it was he that opposed the Reconstruction policies by the radical Republicans of the north. Bush on the other hand has sold the American people lock stock and barrel to the globalists; the very same international financiers and multinational corporations that confronted Lincoln. We know what happened to Lincoln. What will become of Bush?

My son wants to play college hockey (not club). What can I do as a parent to ensure colleges know about him?
Question:
We live in Kansas City, Missouri. He's one of the top players (currently) at the Pee Wee level (11-12 yr olds) and has a burning desire to play. I knew nothing about hockey and still don't know much as I was a football guy. He's got to do the work, and he does work hard already at it. As a parent, I just want to do the right things so he can try to accomplish his goal of playing hockey at the collegiate level.
Answer:
Make sure he gets his name out. Find reputable showcases for him to participate in if his team isn't going to high profile tournaments.
Make sure he's doing strength training as he grows older.
Know that most kids who end up playing division 1 college hockey are taken from junior teams or prep school. Be ready to let him leave home to pursue his goal if he needs to.
Be sure to let him buy instructional videos, sports psychology books, and healthy foods if you really want him to accomplish his goal.
Let him know you will still love him no matter what happens all the time. 99% of the time he'll say it won't matter to him because he's going to make it. 1% of the time he'll be discouraged and makes him feel better about everything, and it makes it worth it.
