    Attica is a town in Harper County, Kansas, United States. The population was 636 at the 2000 census. The town is famous for damage caused by an F4 tornado that was featured on an episode of Shockwave on the History Channel. Attica is located at 37°14′32″N, 98°13′39″W (37.242124, -98.227489). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.5 km²), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 636 people, 254 households, and 154 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,097.8 people per square mile (423.4/km²). There were 297 housing units at an average density of 512.6/sq mi (197.7/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.58% White, 0.94% Native American, 0.16% Asian, 0.16% Pacific Islander, and 0.16% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.63% of the population.
