Shut it down! I've eaten at virtually every quote "fine dining" establishment in the city of Wichita. I've eaten at several non "fine dining" establishments in Wichita as well. And even the poorest of the non "fine dining" establishments was leaps and bounds better than Chelsea's Bar and Grill. The food here was simply ghastly. Here is why - 1. Let me start off by saying - My server. Very good. She was funny, kind and did her best to stay on top of the issues we had with the food. Even when the management was acting like an utter fools, and the bread boy who looked like Lurch from the Adams family kept staring at us for no apparent reason. She was great, and I feel sorry for her that she has to work amongst what we saw. 2. The food. - I ordered the "Ahi Tuna Steak", I'm a big fan of sushi grade tuna. When prepared correctly it can be an amazing dish. When pre-pared incorrectly can be a tremendous health hazard and taste horrible. First off, it came out to me almost still frozen. Barely seared, with the inside still filled with Ice crystals. It was missing the sauce, and was atop of a ghastly bed of grease laden deep fried vegetables. I sent it back, after the management assured me that it was not a health hazard. Even though it was still somewhat FROZEN.... Hmmmm... What else is going on behind the scenes if this is truly what they believe. My wife's pork dish was OK, it came out missing the sauce also but we had a plate of sauce brought over on the side. She continued eating and was content until the manager came back over, insisted on taking even her plate away to "re-plate it", and gave us a course of soup while we waited for my new dish to come out. It took near twenty minutes for her to re plate the VERY SAME PIECE OF MEAT that she took from her, when my wife was not complaining about it. I got a fillet instead of the frozen tuna, and found it to be edible. I had serious doubts about it being an actual fillet cut, and not just odds and ends wrapped in bacon. To make up for this horrible experience that lasted about an hour and a half, the manager who I will give credit for being nice, and trying to fix the problems, but clearly clueless as to what is coming out of her kitchen insisted on bringing us desert. So we accepted. We ordered the "chocolate sack". Which consisted of a half egg of chocolate filled with MELON of all things drizzled with raspberry syrup and some frozen thing that looked to be ice cream, but was later told it was some sort of cheesecake. Whatever it was, it was rock solid, difficult to even cut with a knife and tasted of frozen chalk. I seriously question how long they have food sitting in their kitchen, as a dinner roll we received also was rock hard, and by all standards had to be at least 3-4 days old. The management who kept making excuses for everything, including telling me that the kitchen was not happy with the frozen chalk thing... I simply asked her "then why did they send it out", and received no answer. Meanwhile the bread boy who looked like Lurch from the Adams family would randomly lurch past our table staring at me and my wife, saying nothing, and just kept walking. It was a little creepy. This place may at one time have been a nice establishment, but clearly has serious issues at this point in time and needs a major overhaul, or it will be dead in a few months if that. I'm always for giving a place a second chance, but after seeing what was being served to me that night, I would not give this place a second shot in fear of getting sick from spoiled or improperly handled food. It has a very unique atmosphere, and a good location. Hopefully someone will be able to take this place over and make it into a decent eatery, as is. This place right now is a joke.
