Questions Possibly Related to Agenda, KansasProvided By Y! Answers
Is the NAFTA Superhighway an election year topic in Kansas? What are your views on it? Question: "Democratic congressional challenger Nancy Boyda repeated concerns Wednesday about a proposed multilane superhighway that eventually could span the United States from Mexico to Canada, calling it a threat to Kansans.
“There seems to be a plan to blur the border with the United States and Mexico,” Boyda said, referring to a proposed 10-lane corridor parallel to Interstate 35 in Texas.
Boyda has made the highway an issue in her effort to defeat incumbent Republican Jim Ryun in a rematch of their 2nd District race two years ago. While Ryun says immigration is the top issue on his agenda, Boyda said allowing Texas to “blow a quarter-mile-wide hole in the border” runs afoul with any get-tough talk."
The Republican who apparently voted funds to study such a highway pooh-poohs the idea as 'an internet conspiracy theory', however I have seen corroberating information on several government web pages including spp.gov.
What do you think?
http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2006/aug/24/congressional_ candidates_spar_over_immigration/?politics
Actually, Norman, I am very leery of this.
Answer:
You ares probably asking the wrong person.. I am DEATHLY against NAFTA and feel that this started the conquest by Mexico of the United States. American trucks can NOW go into Mexico (big deal) but when they do, they are strictly controlled and are often times stopped and goods stolen. Mexican trucks into the U.S. pass with no problems even though the trucks are not in good shape and do not undergo safety checks.... It is a one-way street for Mexico and it was intended to be that way by the corrupt government of Mexico. NAFTA should NEVER have been allowed to have happen.

DiLorenzo and His Critics on the Lincoln Myth
By James Ostrowski

Answer:
It is interesting that when presidents get into trouble they often quote Lincoln?! I have even read and heard how George Walker Bush is now being compared to Lincoln. The comparison between Lincoln's constitutional violations versus Bush's PATRIOT ACT is indeed disconcerting. Violating the Constitution and the Bill of Rights by both these presidents can only be measured by the outside influences of the international bankers and the multinational corporations. In defense of Lincoln, it was he that opposed the Reconstruction policies by the radical Republicans of the north. Bush on the other hand has sold the American people lock stock and barrel to the globalists; the very same international financiers and multinational corporations that confronted Lincoln. We know what happened to Lincoln. What will become of Bush?
I appreciated your list of points concerning Lincoln's presidency. If you could, please list under added details the sources in which you derived your information. Thank you.

NAFTA superhighway? What is the purpose of this? Question: Highway 407 toll-road helps provide proof that U.S. Ambassador is misleading Canadians on fascistic NAFTA superhighway agenda
by Paul Chen
U.S. Ambassador to Canada David Wilkins.
The Highway 407 toll-road, helps provide proof that U.S. Ambassador to Canada, David H. Wilkins, is misleading Canadians on the construction of a North American Free Trade (NAFTA) Superhighway, to enable the creation of a fascistic North American Union.
On 8 December 2004, the Canoe Network that is associated with the Sun Newspaper Chain, in Christina Blizzard's article "Hwy 407: Que Pasa?", reported that Cintra, witch is part of a Spanish Consortium, owns the 407 toll-road. It had been a public mystery, why would a company all the way from Spain, spend the time to own and construct a toll-road. Even more of a mystery to me, had been, why would government in Canada award a foreign Spanish bid over a Canadian company?
The Coalition to Block the North American Union revealed that the same Cintra company is behind the Trans-Texas Toll-Road Corridor.
Map shows apparent intent to eventually link the Spanish built 407 toll-road, to the Trans-Texas corridor, owned by the same Spanish consortium.
Maps accredited to the North American Forum on Integration (NAFI), which is a non-profit organization based in Montreal, clearly reveals an apparent intention to link Cintra's Trans-Texas Corridor to the Hwy 407 Toll-Road, which clearly appears to be being built toward Ottawa, within a vast integrated continental toll network.
The 407 Toll-Road in turn was being planned since the late 1980's, and supports the assertion by the Coalition against the North American Union, that the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP), was a part of the agendas of both former Prime Ministers Mulroney and the U.S. President at that time, even before its formal signing in 2005.
Map of the Spanish corporate private owned 407 toll-road around the Greater Toronto Area.
The Trans-Texas Corridor is being designed to provide U.S. and certain Canadian Big Business interests, with easier access to the importing of the outsourced manufacturing of goods, from a further exploited Mexican labour pool, as well from a further exploited Chinese labour pool. U.S. and certain Canadian corporations which have also been exploiting Chinese labour, have been planning a NAFTA superhighway linked with enhanced port connections, to further increase the ability of Big Business interests to make exploitative commercial profit.
Spanish corporate built NAFTA-NAU Superhighway: Looking east from the Highway 50 overpass towards the Highway 407/427 interchange. This interchange is a large 4-level interchange.
U.S. Ambassador to Canada, David H. Wilkins wrote in the Ottawa Citizen on Monday, August 20, that "while conspiracy theories abound, you can take it to the bank that no one involved in these discussions is interested in, or has ever proposed a "North American Union", a "North American super highway," or a "North American currency". The first thing to appreciate is that owners of CanWest Global that owns the Ottawa Citizen have been principal financial donors to Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Conservative Party of Canada. Mr. Harper who is a principal ally of the Bush administration, is also a signatory of the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP). Therefore, CanWest Global's provision of editorial space to Mr. Wilkins can be seen as an attempt to manipulate the masses through political propaganda.
Spanish built NAFTA-NAU Superhighway: Looking east along Highway 407 from the Bathurst Street overpass in Thornhill. Bathurst Street is located roughly at kilometre marker 75. Notice Highway 7 running through the left-side of this photo. Between Dufferin Street and Bayview Avenue, Highway 407 parallels Highway 7 very closely.
Secondly, there is ample proof that a NAFTA superhighway is currently being constructed. The NAFTA superhighway is being constructed and developed to facilitate the Big Business agenda that indeed seeks to create an anti-democratic "North American Union". The curiosity of the Hwy 407 toll-road under Spanish corporate ownership is apparent proof of in Canada, of such a SPP-North American Union (NAU) transportation network, that is to be linked with an American toll-road network, with the same ownership.
The "NAFTA superhighway", is to become a series of very wide toll-roads to stretch all the way into Canada's north, to rape and pillage Canada's environmental heritage for elite interests connected to a U.S. political-military-industrial complex. NAFTA superhighway is to facilitate the planned consolidation of Canada as an American colony under the clandestine SPP-NAU agenda.
It was former U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower who warned the American people upon his retirement from Office that the political-military-industrial complex constitutes a singular threat to democracy.
Dr. Ron Paul is among the critics of the NAFTA superhighway. The U.S. Ambassador to Canada does not seem to be demonstrating candour on the on-going construction of the NAFTA superhighway.
"This superhighway would connect Mexico, the United States, and Canada, cutting a wide swath through the middle of Texas and up through Kansas City. Offshoots, would connect the main artery to the west coast, Florida, and northeast. Proponents envision a ten-lane colossus the width of several football fields, with freight and rail lines, fibre-optic cable lines, and oil and natural gas pipelines running alongside," says Ron Paul, who represents Texas in the U.S. Congress.
The NAFTA superhighway map and agenda appears to have been generated by leaked documents associated with SPP related proceedings, which various groups have sought to disseminate.
Answer:
The purpose is to create the North American Union. It is happening and no one seem to care.

Who is responsible for propagating the Creation Science conspiracy? Question: The dishonesty of Creation Science /Intelligent Design has a design of it's own and a specific purpose... (Check out the Kansas Public Schools science programs to learn the details but here it is in a nut shell.)
Creation science and Intelligent design are both scams. They are willful attempts to appear in all respects like legitimate science for the sole purpose of re-introducing religions teaching in science classrooms. It is entirely a ruse and a guise of device rather than a sincere attempt to use scientific method to learn or investigate anything in ernest.
Creation Science is a devisive conspiracy... but who's been pushing the agenda?
On the subject of the Kansas Schools and from that contraversy, Rev Coyne spoke out against this dishonesty: http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb62/...

Answer:
Couldn't get anything from your links but here is a link to The Center for the Renewal of Science & Culture, founded by the Discovery Institute. They want to replace materialism with faith. (Like that's gonna work).
http://www.infidels.org/secular_web/feature/1999/wedge. html
Basically they want all the money we spend on Gucci bags and SUV's to go to THEIR church so they can live a better life.
My favorite quote on this subject:
"Kansas' Board of Education ... is controlled by the kind of conservatives who make conservatism repulsive to temperate people," wrote columnist George F. Will.
"Faith can and should be proclaimed from every mountaintop and city square," wrote columnist Charles Krauthammer. "But it has no place in science class. To impose it on the teaching of evolution is not just to invite ridicule but to earn it."

Is there a simple way to hold Congress & Senate accountable for a straight 'up or down' vote ? Question: Is there a simple way to hold Congress & Senate accountable for a straight 'up or down' vote instead of political wrangling?
Democrats playing trump card more often
By JULIE HIRSCHFELD DAVIS, Associated Press Writer Sun Jul 8, 12:40 PM ET
WASHINGTON - It is the closest thing that Senate leaders have to a trump card, the only way to wrestle the famously balky institution into predictable action.
Lately, though, the nearly century-old tool known as "cloture" has become more of a routine way to score political points. Once, it was a carefully wielded ace used to push a difficult bill past a parliamentary hurdle and into law.
That is because cloture — a way of cutting off debate and setting a final vote in the otherwise ungovernable Senate — has lost much of its potency as a legislative tactic.
Cloture votes were conceived to free the Senate, in exceptional cases, from the whims of a tiny minority. Such votes now serve to showcase the majority party's agenda and the lengths to which the opposing party will stand in the way.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., is on track to shatter the record for cloture motions filed. He highlighted that statistic recently to illustrate what he called "Republican obstructionism."
The strategy mirrors the one Republicans used against then-minority Democrats three years ago in a closely divided Senate. Many believe the GOP's portrayal of then-Minority Leader Tom Daschle, D-S.D., as an obstructionist cost him his seat.
Reid has turned to cloture early and often — 42 times since January. He says it is out of necessity because Republicans — sometimes just a small band of conservatives — have sought to block not only Democrats' priorities but also some initiatives that enjoy bipartisan support.
He used it repeatedly, with disappointing results, on the immigration measure that just collapsed amid bipartisan opposition.
Reid, however, also has used cloture votes to put Republicans on the record on hot-button issues. They include opposing President Bush's Iraq policy, expressing "no confidence" in Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and backing a bill that would unionize workplaces without secret ballot elections.
"We have spent a lot of time on the Republicans delaying what the American people want us to do, and that is legislate," Reid said in a testy exchange with Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., the minority leader.
McConnell said Reid's use of cloture votes was "a power grab."
"The Senate isn't a factory. We don't push things down the line," McConnell said. "There is a saying about courtship: Shoot for two, end up with zero. So far, this would be a fitting epitaph for a Congress that has sought to do much but has accomplished little."
Cloture emerged in 1917 as a way to limit filibusters, the tactic by which senators use their rights of unlimited debate to delay or block legislation.
President Woodrow Wilson, frustrated by a 23-day filibuster that stalled his proposal to arm merchant ships in World War I, called a special session to consider a cloture proposal.
The Senate, he said, is "the only legislative body in the world which cannot act when its majority is ready for action. A little group of willful men, representing no opinion but their own, have rendered the great government of the United States helpless and contemptible."
The resulting rule held that if two-thirds of the Senate's 100 members agreed, debate on a measure could end and a vote on passing or rejecting the proposal could take place after each senator had an opportunity to speak for another hour.
The high bar for cloture meant it was seldom used and almost never successful. Senate historians say cloture was invoked in only five cases over the next 46 years.
Cloture rules have been revised a number of times, most significantly in 1975. That is when the threshold for ending debate was lowered from two-thirds of the Senate, or 67 senators, to three-fifths, or 60. In 1986, the cap for debate after cloture was shortened, from 100 hours to 30 hours.
Robert B. Dove, the Senate's parliamentary referee between 1965 and 2001, said cloture lost some of its power as political divisions in the Senate became more prominent.
"There used to be a difference between how you voted for cloture and how you felt about the underlying bill. That has all gone by the boards. With the Senate in an incredibly partisan position now and the margins so tight, cloture is really not a great tool," Dove said.
Former Sen. George J. Mitchell, D-Maine, was majority leader in the early 1990s. He said he became accustomed to seeking cloture on matters large and small when he realized that Republicans would object to virtually any action he tried. Both parties are equally guilty of that practice, he added.
"It was more or less in anticipation — and probably based on some specific threat — of filibuster," Mitchell said. "It's common on both sides now that people use it when they think it will advance their political goals and to block legislation that they don't support."
During Mitchell's last two years as majority leader, cloture was sought 80 times, just short of the record of 82 set during the next Congress under Republican Sens. Robert K. Dole of Kansas and Trent Lott of Mississippi.
Some Republicans suggest that Reid's pace toward eclipsing that record might be intended to portray GOP lawmakers in the 2008 election as blocking the nation's business.
"You artificially run up the number of cloture votes and then set out on a search- and-destroy mission to tarnish incumbent Republicans as obstructionists," said Eric Ueland, who served as chief of staff to former Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn.
Still, with Republican objections coming fast and furious, cloture may be among Democrats' only options. GOP lawmakers spent the last few hours of Senate business before the Fourth of July break blocking final negotiations on broadly supported lobbying overhaul and anti-terrorism legislation.
"It's the only way to manage the floor," said Reid's spokesman, Jim Manley. "The alternative is to do nothing, and that's absolutely unacceptable."
Besides, Mitchell said, campaigning on a theme as obscure as a slew of failed cloture votes would be a tough feat.
"The public's view is, 'You're in charge — you produce,' " he said. "If you don't produce, it's your fault — even if it's the other guys who prevented you."

Senate background on cloture: http://tinyurl.com/333udm
Answer:
I tend to watch a lot of the senate proceedings.. I get some news from fox and some from cnn.. Try to balance things out a little bit..Cloture may seem like a real obstruction to passing legislation but as you know it is to prevent a tiny majority from passing legislation.. I think it is absolutely necessary to the law making process.. It results in a system where no bill is ultra liberal or ultra conservative. It kind of forces both sides to make compromises so they can get to the 60 votes to give the bill an up or down vote. However, it becomes a problem when neither side is willing to make those compromises..I dont even know if I really answered your question, but I think a good start would be to reconfigure the business lobbying practice

Why are proponents of the NAFTA superhighway attending Bilderberg meetings?? Question: While Texas Gov. Rick Perry received significant Internet attention for participating in the secretive Bilderberg annual meeting in Turkey, the attendance of a second U.S. governor was largely overlooked.
WND has confirmed Kathleen Sebelius, the Democratic governor of Kansas, attended the annual meeting of the Bilderberg Group May 31 to June 3 in Istanbul.
Spokesman Seth Bundy of Sebelius' office told WND the Bilderberg Group paid for the airfare, but Sebelius expensed the state of Kansas for $1,274 to cover her Ritz Carlton luxury hotel room in Istanbul.
Bundy refused to give any information about Sebelius' speech to the Bilderberg Group or about the meeting agenda and attendee list, even though expenses from her trip were paid from public taxpayer funds.

You know Tony I just have to add this. It seems to me that there is an awful lot of this corruption coming out of the great state of Texas. What is it about Texas?
Then we have Ron Paul from Texas who is very outspoken about the NAU and the cover-up thats been going on. Maybe he knows something we don't.
It's scary to think that it could be oil has this much power over us.

Check this out One more stat to our corner? Question: NRA-ILA Grassroots Alert Vol. 13, No. 14 04/07/06
States with updates this issue: Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, New York, South Carolina, and Texas.
RIGHT-TO-CARRY NOW LAW IN NEBRASKA!
On April 5, Governor Dave Heineman (R) signed Legislative Bill 454 into law, making Right-to-Carry the law of the land in Nebraska!
"It took over a decade to bring Right-to-Carry to the good citizens of Nebraska, but those years of hard work have paid off tremendously," declared NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris W. Cox. "I want to thank Governor Dave Heineman, and Senator Jeanne Combs (R-32), for their support and their efforts in giving Nebraskans the right to protect themselves and their loved ones. Senator Combs' dedication and persistence was vital in ensuring passage of this measure through the state legislature."
LB 454 passed with bi-partisan support, as Nebraska senators voted 33-12 in favor of the measure. The bill allows law-abiding Nebraskans who undergo a background check and apply for a permit to carry a concealed firearm for self-protection.
Two weeks ago, legislators in neighboring Kansas overrode Governor Sebelius' (D) veto to bring Right-to-Carry to that state as well. Now, of all the 50 states, only Wisconsin and Illinois flatly refuse to recognize the right of law-abiding citizens to carry concealed firearms for self-protection against criminal attack.
"Once again, on behalf of our NRA members in Nebraska, I want to thank all the legislators who voted to bring Right-to-Carry to their state," concluded Cox. "And as always, we appreciate the commitment and participation of our members in Nebraska for their part in making it happen."

GOV ERNOR RILEY SIGNS ALABAMA "CASTLE DOCTRINE" INTO LAW!
On April 4, Alabama Governor Bob Riley (R) signed NRA-backed "Castle Doctrine" bill SB 283 into law. Senator Larry Means (D-10), and Representative Albert Hall (D-22), sponsored the self-defense bill.
With overwhelming support, SB 283 passed the Alabama House by a vote of 82 to 9, and the Alabama State Senate by a vote of 30 to 2.
ILA's Chris W. Cox, stated, "We thank Governor Riley for signing this vital legislation into law for the people of Alabama. Law-abiding citizens now have the choice to defend themselves and their families in the face of attack without fear of criminal prosecution and civil litigation."
The "Castle Doctrine" bill removes the "duty to retreat" if an individual is attacked in his or her home, vehicle, place of business, or any other place he or she has a legal right to be. This legislation also states that victims may use necessary force to defend themselves against the attacker.
"I would like to thank the bill's sponsors, Senator Means and Representative Hall, and the Alabama State Senators and State Representatives who supported this bill. As always, we also thank all the NRA members and lawful gun owners who contacted their representatives and urged them to support this vital self-defense measure," concluded Cox.
SUPPORT HR 5092--
"THE BATFE MODERNIZATION AND REFORM ACT OF 2006"
On April 5, the leaders of the House Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security--Representatives Howard Coble (R-N.C.), and Bobby Scott (D-Va.)--joined forces to introduce H.R. 5092, the "Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) Modernization and Reform Act of 2006." This bipartisan bill is a critical first step toward finally reforming BATFE.
First and foremost, H.R. 5092 totally revises the system of administrative penalties for licensed dealers, manufacturers and importers of firearms. Today, for most violations, BATFE can only give an FFL holder a warning, or totally revoke the license. This bill would allow fines or license suspensions for less serious violations, while allowing license revocation for the kind of serious violations that would block an investigation or put guns in the hands of criminals.
H.R. 5092 also clarifies the standard for violations-allowing penalties for intentional, purposeful violations of the law, but not for simple paperwork mistakes. Congress thought it had fixed this problem in 1986 when it passed the Firearms Owners' Protection Act, but the government has ignored that law-and has even argued in court that the 1986 changes were "without practical significance."
The bill also improves the process by which BATFE imposes these penalties, notably by allowing FFLs to appeal BATFE penalties to a neutral administrative law judge, rather than to an employee of BATFE itself.
H.R. 5092 would change BATFE's enforcement operations in several ways, from requiring the Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Justice to review of BATFE gun show enforcement operations, to demanding that the Bureau establish clear investigative guidelines. Finally, the bill would focus BATFE's efforts on violations of firearms, explosives, arson, alcohol and tobacco laws, rather than non-jurisdictional areas.
Please be sure to contact your U.S. Representative at (202) 225-3121, and urge him or her to cosponsor and support H.R. 5092, the "Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Modernization and Reform Act of 2006!"
SENATOR VITTER INTRODUCES S. 2599--THE SENATE VERSION OF
THE "DISASTER RECOVERY PERSONAL PROTECTION ACT OF 2006"
On April 7, U.S. Senator David Vitter (R-La.) introduced S. 2599--the Senate companion bill to H.R. 5013, the "Disaster Recovery Personal Protection Act of 2006" introduced on March 28, by U.S. Congressman Bobby Jindal (R-La.). This NRA-supported bill would amend federal emergency statute laws to prohibit local authorities from confiscating lawfully owned firearms during times of disaster.
Thirty three states have "emergency powers" laws that give the government permission to suspend or limit gun sales, and to prohibit or restrict citizens from transporting or carrying firearms--something NRA-ILA is working to change. In some states, authorities can seize guns outright from citizens who have committed no crime--and who would then be defenseless against disorder.
Please be sure to contact your U.S. Senators and your U.S. Representative, and urge them to cosponsor and support S. 2599, and H.R. 5013, respectively, the "Disaster Recovery Personal Protection Act of 2006!" You can reach your Senators at (202) 224-3121 and your Representative at (202) 225-3121.
SUPPORT H.R. 5005,
THE "FIREARMS CORRECTIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS ACT"
Representative Lamar Smith (R-Tex.) recently introduced H.R. 5005, the "Firearms Corrections and Improvements Act," which would make a variety of technical changes to federal firearm laws. The bill would roll back unnecessary restrictions, correct errors, and codify longstanding congressional policies in the arena of firearms laws.
Among its provisions, H.R. 5005 would: permanently ban taxes or "user fees" on background checks by the federal instant check system--fees that Congress has prohibited in annual appropriations riders since 1998; permanently ban creation of a centralized electronic index of dealers' records--a threat to gun owners' privacy that Congress has barred through appropriations riders for a decade; codify limits on disclosure of trace records--which Congress has already limited through a series of appropriations riders over the past few years, out of concern for gun owners' privacy and the confidentiality of law enforcement records; and repeal of obsolete language from the Brady Act's "interim" waiting period provisions, that expired in 1998.
Please be sure to contact your U.S. Representative at (202) 225-3121, and urge him or her to cosponsor and support H.R. 5005, the "Firearms Corrections and Improvements Act!"

CONNECTICUT
As we have been reporting, the anti-gun crowd has redoubled their efforts to pass last year's proposal to make it a crime to fail to report the loss or theft of a firearm within 72 hours from when you "knew or should have known" of the theft. This year's version is outrageous! H.B. 5818, now includes language that would subject gun owners to criminal investigation and jeopardy of prosecution even if they report the theft because a court will now be given the ability to decide whether the firearm was stored in such a manner that provided "substantial and unjustifiable risk" that it would be stolen. Even worse, if the police recover the firearm before the gun owner has discovered it missing and made the report, it will be considered automatic evidence of guilt of violation of this proposed law, as well as guilt of an illegal transfer. Conviction of the "illegal transfer," which is a felony, would permanently end your right to own a firearm! In response to the large number of phone calls that are coming in from legitimate gun owners, Connecticut Against Gun Violence has put out desperate pleas to the anti-gun crowd asking them to write, e-mail and call lawmakers in an effort to drown out your voice! If you have not contacted your legislators yet, we urge you to do so today! The Public Safety and Security Committee could consider HB 5818 as early as next week. The Public Safety and Security Committee can be reached at (860) 240-0570. For more information on the Public Safety and Security Committee please visit www.cga.ct.gov/ps/.
DELAWARE
The Delaware House of Representatives may be voting as early as Tuesday on H.B. 359, sponsored by Representative Deborah Hudson (R-12), the NRA-backed "shall-issue" Right-to-Carry bill. This bill would allow law-abiding citizens that fulfilled the requirements for a concealed weapons permit to be granted a permit without discrimination. Your State Representative needs to hear from you! Please take the time to call or e-mail your State Representative TODAY and respectfully urge him or her to support HB 359 when it comes before them for consideration. The future of Right-to-Carry in Delaware depends on it!
IDAHO
Thanks to the efforts of NRA members across the State of Idaho who sent thousands of e-mails and made countless phone calls to State lawmakers, four important bills have become law in the state and a fifth is on the way. Senator Gerry Sweet (R-20) and Representative Bill Sali (R-21) co-sponsored three NRA-supported bills: House Bill 686 will protect non-profit shooting ranges and gun clubs from having taxes imposed on their range fees and membership dues; Senate Bill 1401, "Emergency Powers" legislation, will prevent government officials from imposing restrictions on the lawful possession, transfer, sale, transport, storage, display or use of firearms and ammunition during a disaster emergency; and Senate Bill 1428, "Right-to-Carry" reform legislation, that extends the concealed weapon license from four to five years and, like driver's licenses, requires renewal notices be sent out prior to license expiration. This bill also provides an exemption from the concealed weapon license requirement for a person who possesses a concealed weapon while on property he or she owns or leases. Senator Skip Brandt (R-8) proposed House Bill 608, legislation that creates an NRA motor vehicle license plate. This bill has also become law, so look to sign up for a special NRA license plate in the near future. The fifth bill, Senate Bill 1441, is "Castle Doctrine" legislation that would provide immunity from civil action for anyone who has used lawful force in self-defense. Under SB 1441, if a criminal attacks a victim and the victim successfully defends him or herself and, in the process, injures or kills the criminal, then neither the criminal nor the criminal's family can obtain a judgment against the victim for damages. This bill, carried by Senators Mel Richardson (R-32) and Joyce Broadsword (R-2), has passed both the Senate and House and is headed to the Governor's desk.
ILLINOIS
Thanks to the efforts of those who contacted their State Representative, H.B. 4853 passed the House with an NRA-supported amendment that excludes ammunition. The House concurred on this legislation with the Senate offered and NRA-supported amendment overwhelmingly by voting 115 to 1. Without this important amendment, H.B. 4853 as originally passed by the House could have been used to target ammunition manufacturers, distributors, users, and owners of property where firearms are lawfully discharged. This legislation will now head to the Governor's desk.
LOUISIANA
On Tuesday, the Senate Judiciary C Committee reported out S.B. 93, by Senator Joe McPherson (D-29), NRA-backed legislation amending the state's emergency powers act to prohibit the seizure and confiscation of legally possessed firearms in the unfortunate event of another natural disaster in the State of Louisiana. The full Senate could vote the bill on as early as Monday afternoon. Please e-mail and call your State Senators on Monday morning and urge them to support SB 93. Although an official agenda had not been posted as when this Alert went to print, it is expected the House Administration of Criminal Justice Committee may hold hearings on the House versions of measures to end New Orleans-style gun confiscations during a state of emergency: H.B. 36 by Representative Pete Schneider (R-90), H.B. 136 by Representative Troy Hebert (D-49), H.B. 172 by Representative Danny Martiny (R-79), and HB 760 by Representative Steve Scalise (R-82). Please email and call the members of the committee and urge them to support these measures. The committee normally meets on Wednesday and Thursday mornings in Room 6 of the State Capitol. To contact your state lawmakers, check the committee's schedule, and agenda, or for a list of committee members, please call the PULS line at (225) 342-2456 (from the Baton Rouge area) or (800) 256-3793 (outside the Baton Rouge area) or visit http://senate.legis.state.la.us/Senators, http://house.louisiana.gov, and http://www.legis.state.la.us
MAINE
Representative Josh Tardy (R-Newport) is offering an important amendment that adds two important provisions to L.D.1938, "An Act To Protect Victims of Domestic Violence." The "Tardy Amendment" would do the following: (1) Allow the court to order a person seeking a "protection from abuse" order--who is proven to be in "bad faith"--to pay damages and reasonable attorney's fees to the defendant and; (2) Makes law enforcement officials responsible for damage to firearms resulting from a lack of reasonable care, which are seized, surrendered or relinquished. Presently, the possibility of "bad faith" orders within the court system create a "shadow of doubt"--hurting the true victims of domestic violence. This measure would help eliminate "bad faith" orders from occurring, thus furthering validity for all legitimate "protection from abuse" proceedings. Furthermore, relinquished firearms are often damaged and sometimes never returned to the owner after a "protection from abuse" order is terminated. This amendment would correct that problem. Similar language recently passed the Pennsylvania Legislature and was supported by all stakeholders, including gun owners as well as domestic violence organizations. This measure passed overwhelmingly with bipartisan support. Please call your State Legislator today and respectfully ask him or her to support the "Tardy Amendment!" Your State Legislator can be contacted in Augusta at (800) 423-2900.
MICHIGAN
Governor Jennifer Granholm (D) signed two pro-gun bills, both sponsored by Representative Rick Jones (R-71). H.B. 4643 addresses a problem with concealed pistol licenses (CPL) being renewed in a timely fashion. Apparently, the Detroit area was taking 9 to 10 months to renew concealed pistol licenses! HB 4643 corrects the renewal process by requiring a proper renewal to be completed within 60 days or the license is extended for 180 days or until the permit is renewed. H.B. 4642 allows a licensed spouse to carry or transport another licensed spouse's inspected pistol. A thank you goes out to Governor Granholm for signing these two important Right-to-Carry reform bills into law.
NEW YORK
On April 9, members of the Assembly Health Committee are set to consider A. 6608A, sponsored by Assemblywoman Ginny Fields (D-5), an NRA-supported bill that would protect existing shooting ranges from new noise ordinances and nuisance lawsuits aimed at shutting them down. A. 6608A provides that facilities must comply with noise ordinances in place at the time of construction of the range. The Senate companion bill to A 6608A, S. 3353A, is sponsored by Senator Dale Volker (R-59) and could be voted on by the full Senate at any time. Please contact your lawmakers today and urge them to support A. 6606A and S. 3353A. The general phone number to the Senate is (518) 455-2800. The general phone number for the Assembly is (518) 455-4100.
SOUTH CAROLINA
Thanks to phone calls from NRA members H. 4681, introduced by Representative Mike Pitts (R-14), unanimously passed the House Judiciary Committee's Constitutional Laws Subcommittee with an added amendment that further strengthens the bill. H 4681 will now come before the full Judiciary Committee. This legislation would remove the ability of local governments to restrict the use, sale, or transportation of firearms during a state of emergency, and would also prohibit South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) from releasing the personal information of Right-to-Carry (RTC) permit holders unless the request for the information is part of an investigation by law enforcement. Please contact the members of the House Judiciary Committee and urge them to support H 4681. A list of the members of the Judiciary Committee can be found by going to www.scstatehouse.net/html-pages/housecommlst.html#jud

hedge-fund managers are consistent Democratic donors.? Question: Hedging Your Votes
Taxing questions.
Democrats have so far gotten the lion’s share of hedge-fund managers’ campaign contributions in the 2008 presidential money race — 75 percent, according to a Center for Responsive Politics/Absolute Return magazine analysis of the candidates’ first-quarter financials. Next week, when financials are due, we’ll know if the trend kept up in the second quarter. For now the more interesting question is: Will it continue after the Democrats raise taxes on private-equity and hedge-fund managers, as they appear determined to do?
Last Wednesday, the Senate Finance Committee held a hearing on “carried interest” — the percentage of a fund’s returns that its managers keep as compensation. This comes after 14 House Democrats proposed a bill that would more than double the taxes that fund managers pay on these fees. Your typical fund manager takes around two percent of the fund’s value as a fee for managing the money, and on this he pays regular income tax of up to 35 percent. In addition, he keeps around 20 percent of the returns on the fund’s investments — on this he pays the capital-gains tax rate, which President Bush cut to 15 percent in 2003. These funds are quite large, in the billions, and generate outsized returns, so these guys have been in the news lately for their astronomical take-home pay.
Now the Democrats want their cut. They say it’s not fair that these managers pay such a low rate on so much income. They want them to pay the regular income-tax rate — 35 percent.
Here’s where things get weird. Typically political parties crack down on the other party’s donors, not their own. But unlike their financial brethren in the greater securities/investments community, hedge-fund managers are consistent Democratic donors. While the industry overall only shifted its giving to the Democrats in 2006 when a power-shift looked all-but-certain, CRP/Absolute Return data show that hedge funds have favored Democrats for longer and by wider margins. In 2006 hedge funds gave 69 percent of their campaign cash to Democrats (the industry overall was more closely divided at 53-45). They gave 67 percent to Democrats in 2004. In 2002, it was 84 percent.
As mentioned above, first-quarter filings from the 2008 presidential candidates show that the funds continue to favor Democrats. Connecticut Senator Christopher Dodd received the most — close to $350,000 — which reflects the large number of hedge funds in his state as well as his position as chairman of the Senate Banking Committee. John Edwards came in second with over $190,000. Almost all of that money came from the Fortress Investment Group, which also paid him close to $500,000 in consulting fees last year. (Edwards told the Associated Press that he took the job “primarily to learn” about financial markets and their relationship to poverty.) Hillary Clinton came in third, followed by Rudy Giuliani and then Barack Obama.
A top Republican fundraiser I talked to simply didn’t believe these numbers could be accurate. He pointed to a number of high-profile hedge-fund managers who have given to Republicans, such as Paul E. Singer, a founding partner at Elliott Associates and major Giuliani backer. When I asked him to assume that the numbers were correct for argument’s sake, he said, “Then it would be the stupidest thing I could imagine.”
Evidence that hedge-fund giving runs counter to the sector’s best interest also comes from the fact that the Managed Funds Association, which represents hedge funds in Washington, directs most of its giving to Republicans. In 2004 the split was 68-32. Even in 2006, with the rest of the industry trending Democratic, the MFA favored the GOP 57-41.
CRP executive director Sheila Krumholz says, “The Managed Funds Association is a good example of a business association giving for more pragmatic reasons, based on its legislative agenda and more in the general interest of these firms. Yet many companies,” she says, “even members of the association, give 100 percent to Democrats.” Avenue Capital Group, D.E. Shaw, Farallon, Fortress, and yes, Soros Fund Management are among the major Democratic donors who populate the association’s membership list.
One can think of several reasons why hedge-fund giving is so at odds to what one would perceive to be the best interest of the industry. First, most hedge funds are located in blue states and therefore represented by Democrats. It probably makes sense for these managers to give to a Chris Dodd, a Hillary Clinton, a Nancy Pelosi, even if they don’t share their ideologies. That could skew the data. But a closer look at the giving patterns of some of the top donors finds political contributions spread out over a large number of Democratic candidates and PACs. Thomas F. Steyer, senior partner at Farallon Capital Management in San Francisco, gave $1,000 to Nancy Pelosi (and $5,000 to her PAC), sure. But he’s given tens of thousands more to other Democrats, running the gamut from the hawkish Joe Lieberman to the very liberal Russell Feingold. Not all hedge funds are located in blue states, either. David Bonderman, a big Democratic donor, runs the Texas Pacific Group from Fort Worth, Texas.
Second, one could argue that influential lawmakers from both parties support higher taxes and more regulation on hedge funds, so it doesn’t matter whether they give to Republicans or Democrats. Iowa Republican Charles Grassley, ranking member on the Senate Finance Committee, has long favored forcing hedge funds to register with the Securities and Exchange Commission, something they argue they shouldn’t have to do. And in a statement at Wednesday’s hearing, Grassley defended the idea of raising taxes on publicly traded partnerships like Fortress and Blackstone.
But this explanation is also lacking. It is the Democratic party, not the GOP, that seeks to roll back Bush’s investment-friendly tax cuts on dividends and capital gains. Carried interest and hedge-fund managers are merely the softest targets in what promises to be a broader Democratic attack on the Bush tax cuts. The fundamental logic — that the investor class is overcompensated and ought to pay more — is the same.
Listening to the Democratic vs. the Republican candidates for president provides an even clearer demonstration of the difference between the parties. John Edwards, ardent student of the industry though he may be, has come out in favor of higher taxation and increased regulation of private-equity and hedge funds. And Thursday the New York Sun reported that Barack Obama has also come out in support of doubling taxes on publicly traded partnerships. Hillary Clinton, who along with Chuck Schumer represents Wall Street in the Senate, is the only holdout so far (a spokesman told the Sun she is still “evaluating” the issue). This bit of politically-motivated reticence aside, the Democrats’ track record on taxes speaks for itself. By any measure of common sense, a smart man would bet on the GOP to keep taxes low and capital deregulated.
Finally, there’s the Soros factor. But while this can partially explain large discrepancies in past cycles, particularly 2004, Soros’s pocketbook was silent during the first quarter of 2007, and the Democrats dominated anyway.
What’s left is the explanation offered by CRP’s Krumholz: “I sense that, for these individuals, a lot of them are ideologically allied with the Democrats possibly in spite of economic interests that would seem to favor a Republican alliance.” In other words, it’s Thomas Frank’s What’s the Matter With Kansas, only in reverse. Hedge-fund managers tend to live near the top of cosmopolitan, culturally liberal societies. They tend to find Republican positions on embryo-destroying stem-cell research and gay marriage to be nothing short of primitive. They tend to be extremely bright and thus prone to the fallacious idea that if more people like them ran the government, they could solve just about any problem with a new government program. They can afford higher taxes.
Unfortunately, the rest of America can’t. Investment capital is the lifeblood of business expansion and job creation, and the idea that Congress can’t find offsets in the bloated federal budget and must raid Wall Street for more money is preposterous. I know — no one deserves to have their taxes raised quite like these extremely well-compensated benefactors of the party that seeks to destroy them. However, as usual, it’s up to conservatives to know better.
Answer:
Sounds plausible. Special Interests of every kind tend to give to both sides - but give more heavily to the side they expect to actually win.

Fred Phelps a democrat? Question: Another poster, Veritas mentioned that Fred Phelps is a "plant" to further the "gay agenda" while I dont know if this is necessarily true, it did make me search google and I found alot out about this man whom I thought was just a small preacher. I knew his family runs a law firm and most of them are attorneys. He is a democrat and ran three times for a seat in the democratic senate for Kansas. I realize that some democrats are more conservative than others...but this doesnt totally make sense to me considering his views. Did anyone else know this? And what do you think? Thanks for the info, Veritas!
Here is a quote from a blog I read:
LaBarbera went on to say: "Politically and culturally speaking, Phelps and his protesters serve as a crude caricature of pro-family traditionalists who oppose the normalization of homosexuality. Fred makes an easy target for the media and secularists who are tempted (partly by their own prejudices) to paint any opposition to 'gay rights' as hateful. For this reason, I have sometimes wondered if Phelps and his lawyerly clan are 'gay plants.'"
Answer:
If Fred Phelps gets into the democratic senate, I am moving as far away from here as possible.

Finally some recognition for the creator of the universe. I'd say it is about time, wot? Question: SAN DIEGO (AP) ― When some of the world's leading religious scholars gather in San Diego this weekend, pasta will be on the intellectual menu. They'll be talking about a satirical pseudo-deity called the Flying Spaghetti Monster, whose growing pop culture fame gets laughs but also raises serious questions about the essence of religion.
The appearance of the Flying Spaghetti Monster on the agenda of the American Academy of Religion's annual meeting gives a kind of scholarly imprimatur to a phenomenon that first emerged in 2005, during the debate in Kansas over whether intelligent design should be taught in public school sciences classes.

jacksonville@ic.fbi.gov, baltimore@ic.fbi.gov., baltimore@ic.fbi.gov., chicago@ic.fbi.gov., dallas@fbi.gov., houston@fbi.gov., kansas.city@ic.fbi.gov., san.diego@ic.fbi.gov., sanantonio@fbi.gov.,
Yahoo email , Porn sent to underage children
All these same links came to me this morning, these are constant daily and lead dirrectly to pictures of a male penis's. I am listed as a 13 year old on Yahoo email. I did this to prevent this sort of advertisements. So why is it so easy to send porn to children on the web. Does Yahoo. filter this, NO, Why. The ads come with many captions that may be to get children to click on the link. This is transmitting porn to children period. So where is the LAW to stop this....... Why are we not goong after Yahoo.com for allowing to go to underaged emails.
I did not copy code to make active link as in emails, you will need to copy and past blue highlighted in address bar....

Now Google seems should take much of the blame
Well I am sure Parents have nothing better to do then follow their children everywhere, this is worse than sad, Laws that have NO TEETH.
I guess Corporations win again $$$
Then why do people go to jail for sending the same pictures to a minor ?
My Children are grown, I am concern with crime and what we are doing about it "nothing ! " We have the tecnoligy to stop this and the laws.
Answer:
The same thing happens with any e-mail service, not just Yahoo. It's not Yahoo's job to read e-mails for you and decide whether you should get them or not. The internet is unregulated area and it's the job of parents to check what their kids are being exposed to.
