Rhodes is located at 41°55′36″N 93°11′6″W / 41.92667, -93.185 (41.926536, -93.184884).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.0 square miles (2.6 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 294 people, 123 households, and 76 families residing in the city. The population density was 289.4 people per square mile (111.3/km²). There were 129 housing units at an average density of 127.0/sq mi (48.8/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.64% White, 0.68% Asian, and 0.68% from two or more races.
There were 123 households out of which 33.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.0% were married couples living together, 6.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.4% were non-families. 30.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.39 and the average family size was 2.99.
