City DescriptionMinden is a city in Pottawattamie County, Iowa, United States. The population was 564 at the 2000 census. It has possessed a post office since 1875.
Minden is located at 41°28′1″N 95°32′32″W / 41.46694, -95.54222 (41.467002, -95.542231).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.9 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 564 people, 222 households, and 160 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,603.3 people per square mile (622.2/km²). There were 236 housing units at an average density of 670.9/sq mi (260.3/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 99.82% White, 0.18% from other races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.53% of the population.
There were 222 households out of which 34.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.2% were married couples living together, 5.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.9% were non-families. 23.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 2.99.
