City Description

Ledyard is a city in Kossuth County, Iowa, United States. The population was 147 at the 2000 census. Ledyard is located at 43°25′16″N 94°9′38″W / 43.42111, -94.16056 (43.421009, -94.160446). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.9 km²), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 147 people, 73 households, and 42 families residing in the city. The population density was 448.4 people per square mile (172.0/km²). There were 85 housing units at an average density of 259.3/sq mi (99.5/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 99.32% White, and 0.68% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.68% of the population. There were 73 households out of which 17.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.2% were married couples living together, 2.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 41.1% were non-families. 39.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 20.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.01 and the average family size was 2.70. In the city the population was spread out with 17.0% under the age of 18, 4.1%
