City DescriptionKeosauqua (pronounced: Key'-Oh-Saw'-Kwa) is a city in Van Buren County, Iowa, United States. The population was 1,066 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Van Buren County.
Keosauqua is located at 40°43′56″N 91°57′47″W / 40.73222, -91.96306 (40.732089, -91.963027).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.6 square miles (4.1 km²), of which, 1.5 square miles (3.8 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.3 km²) of it (7.59%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,066 people, 467 households, and 270 families residing in the city. The population density was 728.7 people per square mile (281.9/km²). There were 505 housing units at an average density of 345.2/sq mi (133.5/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.59% White, 0.19% African American, 0.28% Asian, and 0.94% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.09% of the population.
