City DescriptionKensett is a city in Worth County, Iowa, United States. The population was 280 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Mason City Micropolitan Statistical Area.
Kensett is located at 43°21′14″N 93°12′31″W / 43.35389, -93.20861 (43.353859, -93.208560).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.5 square miles (4.0 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 280 people, 131 households, and 77 families residing in the city. The population density was 183.5 people per square mile (70.7/km²). There were 143 housing units at an average density of 93.7/sq mi (36.1/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 100.00% White.
There were 131 households out of which 19.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.1% were married couples living together, 4.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 40.5% were non-families. 35.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 18.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.14 and the average family size was 2.67.
