City DescriptionHamilton is a city in Marion County, Iowa, United States. The population was 144 at the 2000 census.
Hamilton is located at 41°10′15″N 92°54′14″W / 41.17083, -92.90389 (41.170926, -92.903948).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.5 square miles (1.4 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 144 people, 53 households, and 36 families residing in the city. The population density was 265.7 people per square mile (103.0/km²). There were 55 housing units at an average density of 101.5/sq mi (39.3/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 97.92% White, 0.69% African American, 0.69% Native American, and 0.69% from two or more races.
There were 53 households out of which 32.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.7% were married couples living together, 9.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.2% were non-families. 28.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 18.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.72 and the average family size was 3.38.
