I lived in Des Moines for a year, then I moved back to California because of the ugly winter, but I could've sucked it up another winter just for these tacos they are delish!!! I am so craving Tasty Tacos right now. Two steak tacos plz with sour cream on the side and their delicious hot sauce...oooohh ohh and those jalape?o poppers!!! lol...

The food here is pretty darn good as far as Vietnamese cuisine goes. It's very authentic, and they are happy to accommodate special requests. Their decor needs a lot of work. It's fairly bad. But, ambiance aside, the food and the service is great. Check it out!

This steak is my idea of what a great steak house should be. First it must be affordable, second serve beef in many variations or cuts, third it must be a unique and memorable experience which places it above all other steak houses. This steak house meets all these criteria. 20 years ago my wife and I did a road vacation for three weeks. The trip took us from Maryland all the way out to Yellowstone National Park. Along the way we ate in every famous and special restaurant we had read about. Sort of like Charles Kuralt in his ON THE ROAD series. When we arrive in Des Moines I thought that if there was a great steak house on Planet Earth it had to be in Des Moines. And sure enough it was. When I saw the two prices for "Cooking Yourself" and the "We Cook" I thought, gee wiz " The actually allow you in the kitchen to cook your own". That was before we entered the restaurant. At that point we were only looking at the chalk board menu. What a place. First you go over to a bunch of glass door refrigerators and pick out your steak. Then it is cooked over a charcoal pit which is in the center of the restaurant. The smallest steak on the menu is a 14oz filet. How good it was! At that time 20 years ago the 14 oz filet was about $12. I guess it is higher now. It was done to perfection with excellent taste and juiciness. The price didn't require you to take out a second mortgage on your house. I haven't been back since but the fact that it is still in business 20 years later tells me it is still super excellent.

Our company ordered take out from this restaurant for lunch today and some of us were not pleased with our orders-we ordered 2 chk spedinis WITH noodles along with other things (Carol took our orders) and when our food arrived at our office, there were no noodles. I called the restaurant and explained to another gal that we received no noodles with our order (Carol was in the background telling the gal we did not mention anything about noodles). I retorted and said that we spoke of the noodles before we started talking about different sauces...then there was silence. I see now why they only received 1 award in 2003 for #1 Italian Restaurant. I felt that this restaurant should've granted us something for their mistake but they offered nothing except "I'm sorry but there is nothing I can do for you." I know for sure that we will not be ordering from this company again nor will my fiance and I be dining here ever. Their food isn't worth a 20 minute drive. Go to Applebee's and they'll take care of you.

Talk about an amazing place to eat this is the place. They have the best food and the staff are excellent. We prefer Patty the server there she is awsome. She goes above and beyond to make sure you get the best service ever and she is a very sweet and kind person. The food is well worth the money and they have daily specials also. The onion rings are to die for. The place is very very clean and so home like that you instantly feel comfortable when you get there. My compomplaments to the owner John...... This place rates a 10 for me and my family............KEEP UP THE WONDERFUL JOB,,,,,,,,,,,,

I went to Centro for New Years Eve dinner. I had a the steak and my girl had the shrimp. It was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is nice and upscale. One of the best places to eat in Des Moines!

From the outside it looks like a dive and don't expect much inside, either. But the food is phenomenal. Now, I am originally from the New York area so I've had my share of amazing Thai food and this place is definitely one of the best I've been to. The food is exceptionally flavorful and the portions are generous. The best part is, they deliver! Perfect on those sub zero temperature days in Des Moines. The staff is friendly and the delivery is quick. Highly recommend!!!

Very good food and cheap too. I go at least once a week. For appetizers, they will make you shrimp wraps which aren't on the menu if you ask. The best soup dish is the duck soup, a must try if you like traditional Vietnamese noodle dishes like pho, which is also really good there.

No complaints. The bass was okay, as were the scallops. The music was just right and we didn't have to yell to have a conversation. This may sound strange but I loved the water. They served cold water with no ice. But Yahoo Local has the incorrect address. It's not East University. Just University, in Windsor Heights. Google Local has the correct address.

Not impressed with their pizza at all. The crust tasted like 50cents box pizza, and they used the canned mushroom, which would been probably O.K. if the pizza was cheaper. They uses frozen or canned food and charge you tons of money for it..... I would not go back there again!

This place has won the award for best burgers from Cityview for I don't know how many years in a row...that should tell you something. Their burgers are always juicy and don't taste microwaved. Shakes are good. And you can't beat the prices...that inexpensive and you actually get edible food.
