- History in The Making
Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it"I was talking to my teacher about a sensitive subject "racism" during our discussion she got mad at me because she showed a racist video to a class of predominantly white people, with very few blacks. I was offended and when asks what is my problem, I told her I think the movie is unnecessary and should not be showed in classrooms. She told me "your entitled to your own opinion but racism, is something we all must talk about" She went on to talking about how racism is apart of our history. She said she could walk in my shoes and understand why that video made me uncomfortable(she most certainly can not) She called my mom and my mom agreed that it was not appropriate. She looked at me and broad casted in front of the class "racism is apart of our history" Those who don't learn from it are doomed to repeat it....At this point I'm enraged, she was saying in her own cynical way racism will repeat itself, but I realize it never has died!
- New Schedule...Or New Problem?
Recently, there has been talk of changing the school schedule. Instead of having four classes, high schoolers will have seven. I believe this is a problem because our day is extended and not everybody share the same passion for school. Meaning, when they get tired of school, the drop out rate will increase rapidly, leaving a greater population of uneducated teens. Do you think the new schedule will hurt or help the students?
- The Apple Doesn't Fall Far....Or Does it?
Violence goes on in many parts of the community, and I was recently in a sociology/psychology class and the argument was "Violence tendencies you may have are hereditary" I didn't agree with this statement and got in a heated debate with a class mate. I believe how ever you choose to go about the violence, may it be verbal, physical, or mental, you can't put that off on the parents. You are your own person and just cause your parent's are mean don't mean you are destined to be mean. The other person argument was however your parent's are you will turn out that way. Write back let me know do you agree with me or the classmate
