What is a staple Indiana food? Buffalo has Buffalo Wings, Cincinnati has Chili, What does Indianapolis have?
    Question:

i receive a cashier check in mail.from bank one of Indiana,na from Citibank of buffalo,NY.want to know if real

    Answer:
First off, ask yourself these little questions. 1) Where you expecting a check for the amount you recieved? 2) Is there an explanation as to why you are recieving the check? 3) Do you regularly do business with these banks? 4) Is there any fine print on the back of the check or a letter stating if you cash this check you are obligated to X,Y, & Z? Think about those questions and if you can find logical answers to these then you'll know if you should cash the check. Just remember that alot of times credit card companies will send you a "check" for a certain amount and when you cash it, that automatically makes you thier customer. You now have an obligation to that company and often times your end of the deal isn't as sweet as thiers.

How do I obtain a permit to serve liquor in a restaurant in Indiana?
    Question:
My girlfriend (18) just got hired at a Buffalo Wild Wings bar & grill as a waitress and was told she needed to get a permit to serve liquor there. The term he used was "liquor license" but I was under the impression that sort of thing was more required for people opening a bar (i.e. zoning boards, etc.). Anyways, I've done extensive Google searches and I can't find a straight answer, and I know there's a ton of you that may have been in the same boat at one time. Please help, she'd really appreciate it!

    Answer:
As former gaming agent for the Indiana Gaming Comission, she needs to apply for one through the Alcohol Beverage Comission. Her employer should do that for her. It will although only be valid as long as she works for that employer. I too am from Indiana. The small cost for the license will be taken out of her paycheck.

How come when I pass by travel agents I never see ads for trips to such exotic American beauty spots like....?

Flint, Michigan Gary, Indiana Buffalo, New York Youngstown, Ohio Johnstown, Pennsylvania Dearborn, Michigan Toledo, Ohio Whiting, Indiana Braddock, Pennsylvania Lackawanna, New York Lorain, Ohio Lima, Ohio Saginaw, Michigan East Chicago, Indiana Tonawanda, New York

gary, flint, youngstown and johnstown are lovely towns. great deals on real estate. lots of new business growth. right..... dearborn is not bad -- they have greenfield village and henry ford museum, and great middle eastern food. detroit, however, is ghastly. any post-industrial towns/cities west of the delaware river and north of the ohio river are pretty much a depressing sight

What city or state has an unusually high percentage of under-educated, working-poor whites?
    Question:
Toledo, Buffalo, West Virgina, Indiana, Ohio, Alabama, Birmingham, Detroit, Cleveland, Flint, etc., etc.? Name me an area, state or town which would be your top choice.

    Answer:
As someone from the Southern U.S. (the state of Arkansas) you would be looking in either Alabama or Mississippi for that question. We here in Arkansas have a saying, "Thank God for Mississippi" becuase it keeps us and other states from being last quite a few times. :/ Also, the weather is more volatile down there. Detroit has a higher percentage of unemployment usually because of the automobile plants there. However, I'm sure all the workers are just as educated as most people, since most know they will end up at one of the local plants, they have no reason to drop out early. These are all great states, with lots of natural beauty and great areas for business. However, there is still room for improvement anywhere.

Driving from Albany to Dallas, what route is best?
    Question:
OK, I have two choices, either Buffalo, Ohio, Indiana, Missouri, Oklahoma or Virgina, Tennesse and Mississippi etc. Which one is less strain for the car but at the same time more fun to drive? Thanks!!

    Answer:
Easiest on the car? Stay west, but it's a boring trip. Staying east and shooting down I-81 promises many photographic sites and nice mountain driving for half the trip. It's more strain on an older car. Use lots of cruise control. My choice with a solid car? Stay east and enjoy the South.

Lotto Players International: How Can You Sleep at Night???
    Question:
I could have been taken by the "Lotto Players International" check scam, but their story had too many red flags. I called the number on the letter saying I won $55k, spoke to Mr Charles Gray in Calgary Canada. The letter accompanied an actual check for $1980.00 from a plastics manufacturer in Indiana (Charles told me that they were a participating sponsor of theirs) and the remaining balance of "winnings" would be sent to me as soon as I wired the 'processing fee' of $1980.00 (minus 10% money wiring fee) to their lotto attorney named Gale Gore which turned out to be at a residental address in Buffalo NY (convieniently close to Canada). I ended up calling the plastics mfgr and I learned that they were the biggest victims because their checks were copied (complete w/ watermarks) and mass distributed across the nation by these creeps. They issued stop payments on every check and now have the FBI and several other authorities involved here. This is a Scam - Scam - Scam!! STAY AWAY!

    Answer:
i completely know about this -somwhat. the plastics company denies affliation wit lotto players international. i would be curious to know why you would take their word for this,if #1 watermarks are so checks can not be copied. how could the checks be endorsed prior to them being issued, did you go to a bnk itself and rec'v the stop payment info about your check or was it on the word of the plastics co. alone you called scam? by the way i am not with lotto play inter...when i called what is only a subsidariary of the co. with detail info about the check i recv'd they could not match the data. then when i contacted the headquarters i got a recorded messages with threats of police, fbi etc involvment. none the less it is a original document by my banks requirements. you have taken a sep further than i have only i reported the reciept of the check and my personal info tho the fbi also. i didn't appreciate not being presumed innocent because a corpo. of this size should have had a legal department to rectify issues like this. maybe copies can be sophsicated enough thhough. it just doesn't seem to be a police matter to me. i did enter the sweepstakes did you? yours contact names are also foreign to me. were you a winner of the north america div also? i have nothing to loose keeping their check. it is only money and they are bringing drama i don't need. i wouldst that i could contact you further. did you get the name of the person on the fraud recording and did you note that the fraudulent lottery not lotto was located in winnepeg according to them not calgary. i would look futher into lotto intern...contacts and request replacement check just to see what they do, a check form lotto internationals emblem on it like in the letters. an human rep. could clear this up in no time flat without involving the gov't which i may add is busy with a war and terrorism. adriane p

Do you agree that upstate New York Is the biggest h*ll hole in the US?
    Question:
Pretty much all of upstate New York, except for the finger lakes, is a rotting h*ll hole. Yes, Rochester, Syracuse, Buffalo, and Niagara Falls are truly the most Godfordaken, falling-apart, jobless(Kodak cut back 3/4 of it's employees in last two years...Thanks, digital cameras!) cities in the entire USA! Only the "orangemen" basketball team give the area anything of note to cheer about. The US side of Niagara is a s***hole indeed! a sad tourist trap, pollution-filled and devoid of jobs, that makes Detroit look good in Comparison. God help the souls of those jobless, overweight, hopeless people of upstate New York indeed! And Buffalo! Don't get me started! The football team lost EVERY superbowl it was in, and its greatest sports hero is the murderer, OJ Simpson! The entire down of Buffalo is out of work! The east side of Buffalo is the closet thing to hell on earth. Buffalo, makes Gary, Indiana look good! Even Gary has a few jobs at their casino boats! Pray for Buffalo!!!!!! NYC is incredible...we're talking about UPSTATE New York....only similarity is that they share the same name... Upstate New York is everything north and west of Albany........I forgot about the Adirondacks and Lake Placid....I already said the finger lakes were nice....It's the rust belt cities up there that stink up the place...hard to believe they are in the same state..drive around the east end of Buffalo, and pinch yourself and try to realize that you are in the same state as NYC! Only a new tork resident knows what the h*ll I'm talking about! ..LOL//laughing at mightmite's comment! Yes, I'm sure caustic tonight, aren't I! maybe I need a stiff drink! LOL I forgot about the lovely LOVE CANAL outside of niagara falls....only town to be shut down and evacuated in its entirety... possibly the most polluted area in the world outside of Shaghai, China.....read the following link below.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_Canal Prior to the delivery of this instrument of conveyance, the grantee herein has been advised by the grantor that the premises above described have been filled, in whole or in part, to the present grade level thereof with waste products resulting from the manufacturing of chemicals by the grantor at its plant in the City of Niagara Falls, New York, and the grantee assumes all risk and liability incident to the use thereof. It is therefore understood and agreed that, as a part of the consideration for this conveyance and as a condition thereof, no claim, suit, action or demand of any nature whatsoever shall ever be made by the grantee, its successors or assigns, against the grantor, its successors or assigns, for injury to a person or persons, including death resulting therefrom, or loss of or damage to property caused by, in connection with or by reason of the presence of said industrial wastes. The above disclaimer was on every deed of every home purchased in the area. The "Hooker" company(wish I was making that name up", absolved themselves of all responsibility for cleaning up the area, or getting sued for the same. Shortly thereafter, the board began construction on the 99th Street School in its originally intended location. The building site was forced to relocate when contractors discovered two pits filled with chemicals. The new location was directly on top of the former chemical landfill. During construction, a clay seal which Hooker had put in to stop the chemicals seeping out was broken through, despite the breaking of several drill bits in the process It was not until scientific investigations were undertaken that it could be proven the chemicals were responsible for the ill health of residents. Geologists were recruited to prove that underground swales were responsible for carrying the chemicals to the surrounding residential areas. Once there, they explained, chemicals leached into basements and evaporated into household air. On May 17, 1980, the EPA announced the result of blood tests that showed chromosome damage in Love Canal residents. Residents were told that this meant they were at increased risk of cancer, reproductive problems and genetic damage. With the growing evidence and two years of effort by Lois Gibbs and other residents, President Carter declared a state of emergency at Love Canal on May 21, 1980 and the EPA agreed to evacuate all Love Canal families temporarily until permanent relocation funds could be secured. [2] Eventually, the government relocated more than 800 families and reimbursed them for their homes, Question...does anyone still live in Love canal? just curious.... Oscarchick gave a great explanation..thank you Oscarchick.......Now we see that upstate New York has a shi*ty business environonment because of NYC. NYC artificially pumps up the tax rate of upstate, and upstate's money obviously flows to NYC by way of Albany. So upstate NY is crucified on the back of NYC. Interesting Sorry Avatar...Mr. Johnson lives in the mean streets of Chicago, who kicks the worlds collective a ss! We are very proud to have the highest murder rate per capita in the USA! One would have to go into an active war zone(kids, can you say green zone in Bagdad), to find a higher murder rate. Actually, we have had several soldiers killed after they came back frim Iraq on the streets of Chicago, so you can say its worse than Iraq here....... Buffalo and Detroit are uglier, but Chicago is meaner, Jack. Walk our south side without a brick, bat, pistol, or tazer and see how far you get. Even our whites are like animals in the blue-collar areas here!

    Answer:
If you grew up in upstate NY like I did, you can't JUST be figuring this out, can you? My vote for the biggest shithole in the state would have to be Utica, followed closely by Binghamton, Syracuse, Niagara Falls, Schenectady, Buffalo, and then anything south of Poughkeepsie. At least the new mayor of Rochester is trying to bring pride back to the neighborhoods, and empower people to clean up their own streets. We can thank our wonderful state government for making this the worst state in the union for business development, causing our jobs to go elsewhere. The cost of living is outrageous, and people are taxed up the ying yang. The jobs that have remained are either entry-level minimum wage jobs, or high paying white collar jobs that require years of education. There is no happy medium. Our schools and healthcare are rated in the bottom 33% - that is sure something to be proud of.... Our state motto should be "I Love NY - Just Bend Me Over!"
