    City Description

Brazil is a city in Clay County, Indiana, United States. The population was 8,188 at the 2000 census. The city is the county seat of Clay County. The current chief executive of Brazil is Mayor Ann Bradshaw (Democrat). In the 1840s, the owners of the farm which would later originate the city of Brazil decided to name their farm after the country of Brazil, because that country was often the subject of news at the time. The city was founded in 1866 under the name of that farm. The Chafariz dos Contos (Fountain of the Contos) was given by the country of Brazil as a gift to the city, as a symbol of friendship, and was assembled in Forest Park in 1956. It is a replica of the original fountain located in Ouro Preto, Brazil, built in 1745. Brazil is located at 39°31′30″N 87°7′39″W / 39.525, -87.1275 (39.525030, -87.127380). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.4 square miles (8.7 km²), of which, 3.3 square miles (8.7 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.89%) is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 8,188 people, 3,383 households, and 2,151 families residing in the city. The population density was 2,450.6 people per

Any information about 1887 Midland Railroad in central Indiana?`?
    Question:
The railroad, also known as the Central Indiana Railway had stations at Muncie, Avondale, Anderson, Lapel, Noblesville, Westfield, Jolietville, Roston, Gadsden, Lebanon, Advance, New Ross, Ladoga, Waveland, Waveland Juction, Sand Creek, E. Rockville, Bridgeton, Carbon & Brazil, Indiana. It ran a total of 117 miles.

    Answer:
There's a history and timeline for the Midland, which became the Central Indiana in 1903, at this website: http://www.indianatrails.org/MidlandTrace/history.htm There are photos of the right of way and links to related sites in the area. It looks like at least part of it is now a recreation trail called the Midland Trace. It says there that the road eventually became part of Conrail, but that it was torn up in the mid-1980s.

I would like driving directions from Indiana USA to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil?
    Question:
I'm plannin a roadtrip with a bunch of friends, and we don't really know how to get there. Google Earth doesn't give directions out of the United States. I need turn by turn directions with road names, and if you have information on the location of gas stations and restaraunts, that'd be helpful as well. Also is there a difference in the type of fuel used outside of the United States, for example: lead content, or octane amounts. We need to know about passports, and drivers and vehicle's licenses as well. Also, what are the Marijuana laws and age of consent laws in all places between the US and Brazil including Brazil. You can drive across Central America. And, I need a little more specific directions... like road names and such.

    Answer:
The first problem is that you will need a boat. The Panama Colombia boarder has the Darién Gap and does not have a road across it , It's a thick rain forest. The Pan American Highway is the easiest route http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pan-American_Highway When in Buenos Aires take a ferry to Colonia in Uruguay and Uruguay Highway 1 to Montevideo. Then take Uruguay Highway 9 and Brazil Highway 471 route to near Pelotas, from where Brazil Highway 116 leads to Rio de Janeiro. Most of America has the same octane amounts, which are different to European standards. The costs is very different though and availability isn't the same, never let your car run below 1/4 full if possible. You'll need passports and visas on entry, these can be gained usually at the boarder but things change so check out with embassy's before you leave. The Vehicle will be fine as long as it is road legal in the USA, although you will have to buy a permit to travel through some countries, available at the boarder. Marijuana laws are the same as in the USA, only more strictly enforced since you are a foreigner. The age of consent is 16. Also the age of drinking is 16 - 18 depending on the country, most are 16.

What yellow toads are found in Indiana?
    Question:
There's a humongous yellow toad living in our basement. We don't know what kind it is, or else we would remove it already. I just fear that it's some rabid or poisonous thing from Brazil or something. It's really bumpy, really big, and quite yellow, with brown and white spots that blend in with the rest of the skin. It seems nice, and we'd like to capture it and make it an interesting pet. What kind of toad is this?! We live in Bloomington, which is southern Indiana.

I'm being sent to Brazil as an exchange student! Which region will I be sent to?
    Question:
I know that I'm going to Brazil, but I haven't found out where in Brazil yet. I'm wondering where will I probably end up? I mean, I know I could end up anywhere, but are there regions of Brazil where they send a lot of students? I'm from the US (indiana) if that makes a difference, and I'll be there for a year. Thanks!!

    Answer:
It really depends upon where your exchange program operates. However, most Americans tend to go more to the bigger cities or to the south. Sao Paulo, Curitiba plus the smaller suburbs around them seem to be popular with placing organizations. The southern part of the country is richer than the north, so those are the families that can afford to host! Good luck and have fun!

PS3 trying 2 see if i should/could start a business selling games and holding tournaments. tell me wat u think Great Idea but make the cost less then a movie to play casually and for at least two hours. Have tournement entry fees for individuals as well as teams (different pricing though and much higher then casual play. ) You could also hold online tournements as well check with the big 3 to find out how to handle it. That way people from home who paid the tourny fee at the store could also play in some tournements.

    Answer:
I received my results about 2 wks ago. There is no way you can determine what comes from your father and what comes from your mother. Since Autosomal is your genetic pattern, I sent them a question, if my sister with which I share both parents, had the same tests would it be the same as mine. I was told there would be differences and similarities. Now, there is something interesting. My highest MLI was Tuscany, followed by Greece 3 times and then Northern Ireland (my father had ancestors from Clare, Cork and what is now Northern Ireland and some of my maternal grandmother's ancestry was Northern Irish. Spain was in the first 20 a number of times. Poland was twice. France was in their once. It was from Lille France. Veneto Italy and Lombardia was in the first 20 as well as Strathclyde Scotland. Serbia Montenegro was in the first 20 also. Glasgow,Scotland, was once as well as Bosnia, Istanbul, Turkey, I found out Tuscany and Greece was high on my father's which was done several years ago. Also for a nun from Ireland who is a distant cousin. What we all share is an ancestor who married one of our Irish ancestors who was mostly Italian, Spanish and Austrian. Apparently that one ancestor had a very strong gene pool. Her Italian ancestors began in Florence a long time ago. Florence is in Tuscany. Now in my paternal grandfather's line there is one ancestor, a gandmother of one of my great great great grandmother's was suppose to be a Talliaferro. These people came to the colonial South and there weren't many chances to marry Italians. I believe most people today with that name are more Italian in name only. My maternal grandmother's gene pool apparently wasn't so strong. She was mostly English. London England was 58 in my Extended Match Results. She apparently did contribute to my high Northern Ireland result(along with my paternal grandfather) and perhaps to Lille, France as she had a Huguenot ancestor that came to the U.S. about 1700. His gene pool was probably strong. One result that was high in one of the groups was Morocco(Belgium). I asked about this and was told it was the Moroccan population in Belgium. Morocco is about 5 miles across the Strait of Gibraltar from Spain. The Moors dominated Spain and it is felt that the people of Andalusia are more closely related to the Moroccans than people of the rest of Spain. My World Region Map has the following Aegean Mediterranean Northwest European North African Eastern European Levantine This is suppose to be what I am mostly. However, a genealogy with documentation might not come out that way. That is because no people are pure. We are really just one big human race. People within any one race or ethnicity are frequently more related to someone in another than they are to those within their own. The History of the Irish Race by Seumas MacManus stated the Celts that went to Ireland were in Spain for some time and then went to Egypt and were there 100 years. He stated they went north to Ireland and some later went to Scotland. A nun(a relative) wanted to know how to identify a person when she was going to a meeting. She knew I had seen him. My way of describing him was his hair was red Irish wool. Some Irish have that. A woman of Syrian descent in her office, laughted and said they got that by being in the land of Egypt for 100 years ago. You can send DNA Tribes an email in their website and ask questions.

Why do you smash in his windshield, punch him, spray him … then pull him out and suffocate him?
    Question:
http://www.tribstar.com/local/local_story_114001538.html The call was not immediately returned. What do the police have something to hide ? TERRE HAUTE — The family of a Brazil man who died last year after being arrested has filed a wrongful death claim in federal court, accusing six police agencies of using excessive force, resulting in the man’s death. The family is seeking more than $5 million in compensation. Bradley E. Karn, 25, of Brazil died at Putnam County Hospital on Feb. 24, 2006, after he stopped breathing while being arrested following a traffic stop and a police chase. In the complaint, filed Monday in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, Indianapolis Division, representatives of Karn’s estate accused officers of spraying Karn with pepper spray, beating him and holding him face-down on an incline for several minutes, “even though he did not pose a threat of physical harm to the officers surrounding him.” A pathology report indicated Karn died from excited delirium syndrome, according to authorities. Pathology reports also showed Karn was morbidly obese and tested positive for methamphetamine, marijuana and alcohol. The reports indicated Karn experienced positional asphyxiation, which means the body is positioned in such a way that it interferes with the ability to breathe. Indiana State Police, an agency that assisted in the pursuit and arrest of Karn, conducted the initial investigation into Karn’s death. An independent investigation, known as a coroner’s inquest, was launched by Putnam County Coroner Thomas Miller. According to police, the pursuit began when Karn fled from a Clay County Sheriff’s deputy during a traffic stop. Karn led policed through Brazil and onto Interstate 70. Police used stop sticks to deflate the tires on Karn’s vehicle, and continued to follow him as the chase became a slow-speed pursuit. According to a news release from Indiana State Police at the time, Clay County Sheriff Mike Heaton then bumped Karn’s vehicle in a “slow-speed legal intervention,” causing the car to spin and come to a stop. Police vehicles then surrounded Karn’s car, and police demanded he exit the vehicle. Karn refused, at which point police began to break his windows, sprayed him with a chemical agent and forcibly removed him, according to police. The initial news release from police also stated Karn continued to struggle as he was handcuffed, at which point he collapsed and stopped breathing. Miller said while Karn was handcuffed, he was lying on his stomach on a hill with his head pointing downward. Karn’s weight and gravity caused his stomach to push into his diaphragm and did not allow him to breath, Miller said. Karn’s death was determined accidental at the inquest. Coroner Miller said at the time, “There was absolutely no foul play of any police officer.” The Karn family, however, disagrees. According to a news release issued by Indianapolis attorneys for the Karn family, Karn “was a polite young man who battled schizophrenia and lived at home with his parents … the officers were actually aware of his mental illness when the confrontation occurred.” Stephen M. Wagner, attorney for Karn’s family, said in a telephone interview Monday that this is not a case of an out-of-control individual posing a threat to police. “You have a mental-health patient, disabled, by the side of the road, frightened, with both hands on the wheel, and police are knowledgeable about his health condition, not an individual with any weapons, not posing any threat — why do you smash in his windshield, punch him, spray him … then pull him out and suffocate him? “You’ve got 17 big, burly officers around a mental-health patient … some of them had actually escorted [Karn] home, and they knew sometimes he wouldn’t take his medication.” Wagner added that during the vehicle pursuit, police radio transmissions informed officers that Karn had a mental illness. Wagner said the family will rely on testimony taken during the coroner’s inquest. According to the Karn family news release, police officers testified during the inquest that an officer had placed his knee in the back of Karn’s neck during the arrest, refusing to remove handcuffs to allow for emergency medical treatment. The initial release from the Indiana State Police last year contradicts that allegation, stating that police immediately started cardiopulmonary resuscitation on Karn and continued until paramedics arrived. A phone message seeking comment was left with Indiana State Police Sgt. Joe Watts, one of the individuals named in the complaint. The call was not immediately returned.
