Hey, I just got a job offer at a company out in Spencer, Indiana. I'm from NJ and went to school in Boston, haven't been out there yet but might need to decide about it unseen. Anyway, if you know anything about it, I want to know about the climate (the winters), what the scenery is like the people, the commute between Spencer and Bloomington, the college there, basically any general or detailed info you can give me that will help me get an idea of the place. If you could compare it in context to Boston, that'd help. Keep in mind I've never been to the midwest at all, except Ohio once. Thanks a bunch!

Spencer is very country-- not at all like boston. Bloomington isn't like Boston either-- a little more run down--- I think the college keeps it afloat. The commute between the Spencer and Bloomington isn't bad. The college is great-- you couldn't ask for any better college except IUPUI in Indy.
In both places the country is beautiful-- great wildlife, hunting and fishing. Culturally, it is a bit white-bread and there are not many cultural attractions in either place.

Should I go straight to Michigan State OR go to community college than transfer to Indiana Bloomington?

I got accepted into Michigan State. My mom wants me to go either there or Northern Illinois (which is in-state). However, I have a gut feeling that I won't like or fit in with Michigan State. However, I Really want to go to Indiana University- bloomington. Will I get screwed financially if I decided to transfer to Indiana (loans, scholarships)? Should I just go to michigan state or go the other route

i live in Michigan and have gone to msu many times
they have a ton of foreign and out of state students so i wouldn't worry about not fitting in
it is by far the best university you are looking at.
the best thing to do is go to both and see what the colleges are like

Sketchy information on this Tobias Long, I think his father as is Isreal Long. They are from or around Bloomington, Indiana. I think Tobias was born after 1828. I'd like to know Tobias' wife, his wifes family and their kids. I think Isreal was b. 1809-1892. I think Tobias married a Lucas or a Pennington, but I'm not sure about that either. Well I looked and Isreal Long born 1809 doesn't appear to have a son named Tobias long closest thing I could see was Thomas Long, and it also appears that Israel Long children were all born after 1837 I think if you look at familysearch.org and rootsweb you will find people researching this family contact them and compare your notes, hopefully it will either help you or show you towards the right information

IS BLOOMINGTON INDIANA A COOL TOWN TO MOVE TO?

I WAS CONSIDERING MOVING TO BLOOMINGTON INDIANA FOR COLLEGE. MY FRIEND FROM THE NAVY IS THERE, AND WE BOTH WANT TO GO TO SCHOOL, AND HAVE A GOOD TIME. IS THER ALOT TO DO THERE, IS IT A COOL TOWN?

Caution: I moved there for a couple years for my job and the traffic
is horrible! There are no east-west streets that go all the way through town. The cops are ticket-happy, especially after dark and the town has a radical atmosphere that I didn't expect in Indiana, even if it is a college town.
On the good side, if your into the outdoors/ nature it is the best area of the state to live in with Monroe Reservoir, Hoosier National Forest and lots of state parks and forests within a few miles.
