    City Description

    Atlanta is a town in Jackson Township, Hamilton County, Indiana, United States. The population was 822 at the 2006 census. Atlanta is located at 40°12′50″N 86°1′32″W / 40.21389, -86.02556 (40.213954, -86.025498). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.8 km²), all of it land. The town is noted throughout the area for the Atlanta New Earth Festival, held on the fourth weekend of September annually since 1973. As of the census of 2000, there were 761 people, 261 households, and 205 families residing in the town. The population density was 2,533.9 people per square mile (979.4/km²). There were 283 housing units at an average density of 942.3/sq mi (364.2/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 96.85% White, 0.66% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 1.45% from other races, and 0.79% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.10% of the population.     I just moved to Atlanta from Indiana and am not used to NEVER seeing any white people. I am living with a friend until I get on my feet and she lives in College Park. Are there bars or spots to chill in the southern burbs that are safe and un"hood"? I am black myself so do not think I am discriminating. It's just about comfort level.     Yes, there are white people in the southern part of ATL. I know plenty of white people from College Park. Yes, it safe to go to the Ritz, 20 Grand and all of those places. Just know that where ever you go whether you are in Lawrenceville, Buckhead, Jonesboro or Downtown-- be aware and be safe! This is a metropolitan area so anything of course you should keep "your head on a swivel". (as my dad would say). I have been living in Atlanta for 5 years and I have found myself getting a shock of culture when I go to other cities now! Anyhow, I am sure you will be fine! Like some of the other postings, I do think you should venture out into the city more... maybe check out the nightlfe scene... Good Luck!

    Depends on the time of day you are coming through. Avoid Atlanta rush hour if possible. Rush hour is from 7-11 and 3-7. 285 is the bypass for Atlanta. It can be as bad as driving through the city. Atlanta is so beautiful. I would recommend driving through at the evening and go right on through on I-75. It is a nice ride. Traffic will be heavy, but it is do-able. Pretty much all areas off north of dowtown are safe for stopping and lodging. If you are not from Atlanta I would stay north of downtown or closer to the airport. Avoid the area in between. Have a safe trip and enjoy Florida!

    So they can at least get something for him. Otherwise, as an unrestricted free agent, he would just sign with another team and the Hawks get nothing in return for him. By trading him, they at least get something of value back (a first round draft pick).

    I am originally from Indiana and count me as one who hates it. I came back last July (from Southern California) and it was so humid you nearly had to grow gills. Then in the winter, it gets below zero. Does this strike ANYONE as a good place to live? People are friendly and prices are low but there is NOTHING going on. Once you've driven past 10 miles of corn fields, you've pretty much seen it. Indy's not bad for a medium sized town, but 'not bad' isn't good. If you like it that's great. Just don't expect others to share your enthusiasm much.

    The best place to find jobs is the print edition of the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Many libraries do get papers from other cities but if yours doesn't and you don't want to subscribe the online version is a bit out of date but can be found at http:www.ajc.com.The GA dept of labor jobs available listings are at http://www.dol.state.ga.us/js/job_info_system.htm there are a number of customer service and clericaljobs listed there now, You will also find a number of clerical and customer service related jobs open with the state of GA. The site to find those is http://www.thejobsite.org. I can't predict what may be available in 3 months especially in a job market that is getting very tight but most of the localhospitals need clerical staff often. You can do a search for their web sites for pay and benefits. Another possibility is to have a second job or home business that you can start there and move with you, One possibility on that seems to go very well in Atlanta is http://www.prepaidlegal.com/hub/caringhand0.I know a number of people who are maki9ng good money working wioth that co and like the freedom and flexibility. Because the job market is tight and gas prices are high you may want to hold on to what you have available with your present employer or combine it with something else till after elections/innauguration. Commuting in Atlanta is horrible so figure out where you will be working and living with the job transfer and look in that area and think about the possiblities of using MARTA the public transit system.

    Not necessarily. Fake money orders can be sent. If it was going out of the country, I'd say odds were that it would be fake. In the country, you are probably more likely to be OK, but can't be sure. You could check with the post office and see if they can verify and cash the money order. If they can't, I wouldn't ship the computer until your bank can assure you it has cleared. Not meaning to worry you. But there are so many scammers around that you just can't be sure.

    Atlanta - Rush Hour Times - Weekdays - When are they?

    We're going on Vacation the first week of June. The plan is to leave Indiana on the evening of (Thursday) May 31st. If we leave around 5:00 - we'll probably stop around Chattanooga and get a hotel room. If we leave around 7 AM - we should hit Atlanta around 9 AM - will we miss rush hour traffic? Also, if we can get by with leaving earlier - the plan is to get to Atlanta before checking in to a hotel. This will, of course, mean getting to Atlanta around 11 PM. Am I correct in assuming that the traffic won't be bad at this time?

    Rush hour traffic in Atlanta usually starts around 6:30am, ends around 10-11am, then theres a short lunch rush hour between 12-1pm, then the evening rush hour starts around 3:30pm and can last up until 7pm. Your best bet would be to arrive in Atlanta after 8pm.

    I have been with the same company for 28 years and in good standings. As the matter of fact my local managemers are given me recommendation letters. My job as for fact not been eliminated but replaced by a local person in Atlanta. My company bought out another company 2 years ago and they are finally closing down mine and other two's one in Indiana and one in Kansas city. However, the corporate office in New Jersey has give all the employees in Indiana a choice to relocate only 4 took the transfer but they have yet not asked any of us in Illinois. Can I refuse my severance and if any, can I have any legal recourse against the company and under what? We will be closing sometime in December. Also at this time they are still looking for help in Atlanta.

    28 years is a long time to be with a company and I know this is going to hurt. However, I would take the severance and look elsewhere. Unfortunately, employees have very little ability to do anything in these situations. Start looking for other work and put this behind you. You are lucky to have had a job for that long, the usually now is about 7 years with one company.
