  The eyes of the nation again turn to Bath for this weekend's Redneck Fishing Tournament. Since its inception in 2005 the unique event has attracted national television coverage. Action gets underway today from 1-3 p.m. with a tourney for kids age 2-12. The first heat of true redneck fishing - anglers try to catch Asian carp out of the Illinois River using only a dipnet and their boat - is 5-7 p.m. Fishing continues Saturday with heats from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Entry fee is $50 per boat. Live bands play both days at the Boat Tavern, which has refreshments for sale. Call Betty DeFord at (309) 546-2545.

City Description

Bath is a village in Mason County, Illinois, United States. The population was 310 at the 2000 census. Bath is located at 40°11′29″N 90°8′27″W / 40.19139, -90.14083 (40.191336, -90.140819). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.4 square miles (1.0 km²), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 310 people, 130 households, and 86 families residing in the village. The population density was 848.9 people per square mile (323.5/km²). There were 153 housing units at an average density of 419.0/sq mi (159.7/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 96.45% White, 0.32% African American, 0.97% Native American, and 2.26% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.32% of the population. There were 130 households out of which 28.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.2% were married couples living together, 16.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.8% were non-families. 32.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.95. In the village the
