City DescriptionAshton (formerly Ogle Station) is a village in Lee County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,142 at the 2000 census.
Ashton is located at 41°52′0″N 89°13′19″W / 41.86667, -89.22194 (41.866545, -89.221923).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.7 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,142 people, 437 households, and 312 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,727.6 people per square mile (668.1/km²). There were 468 housing units at an average density of 708.0/sq mi (273.8/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 97.99% White, 1.05% African American, 0.09% Native American, 0.35% from other races, and 0.53% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.36% of the population.
There were 437 households out of which 35.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.2% were married couples living together, 14.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.4% were non-families. 23.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
