Does anyone know anything about Allerton Park in central Illinois?

I would like to know more about the history of the Allerton estate and perhaps see maps and photos. I think the place is beautiful and am fascinated by it.

Answer:
I haven't been there in a few years. The last time I visited it was so sad... The University hadn't been spending the money needed to really keep it up. Maybe that's improved. My favorite spot is the Garden of the Fu Dogs....although the Fu Dogs are now replicas, because the priceless originals were being defaced by ignorant barbarians. BTW... did you go to the pioneer cemetery? I found it by accident once, when I was walking around without a map. Just saw a faint trail leading off of the horse road and followed it off into the woods--suddenly I'm in this clearing with half a dozen overgrown tombstones....Kinda eerie. Love the place !
