Questions Possibly Related to Albany, IllinoisProvided By Y! Answers
Neighborhoods near Northeastern Illinois University that are nice? Question: I'd prefer something walking distance. It's located in Albany Park in Chicago. I am also in my mid 20s so i'd like a place that's somewhat poppin as well. Is Albany Park a poppin place to be?
Answer:
As far as I know, there isn't much poppin' in Albany Park, but if you go further east you could probably find something on the outskirts of Lincoln Square. Albany Park is probably your most affordable option, if that's a consideration.
Also, if you pick an area that's further east, you'll probably have to take the bus to campus, but it shouldn't be too bad. You could also check out Edgewater or Uptown. Both are further east as well but have a lot more to offer in terms of amenities and you're close to the Red Line if you want to go to Lakeview or Lincoln Park.

Is it about time this came out? Some Jehovah's Witnesses want more than to leave Watchtowers ? Question: Towns where Alleged Jehovah's Witness Child molesters have been reported to silentlambs
Home
Listed by each state
If you would to add a new listing contact silentlambs at info@silentlambs.org
The list below is designed to alert you to a possible danger in your community. Over the course of the last four years silentlambs has been a repository of reports on alleged Jehovah's Witness child molesters. Victims have reported extensively on times, dates and places abuse occurred. We have wrestled with how to alert the public as well as members that may be in congregations where abusers have been reported.
We offer the following suggestions if you as a Jehovah's Witness are in a town/congregation where a report has been made.
Do not allow your children to be alone with anyone in the congregation.
Escort your children to the bathroom during meetings and make sure no else is with them when using facilities.
Never allow your children to be alone in the car with anyone while in field service.
Do not allow any member to study with your child alone.
Avoid camping trips in which children go as a group with one or two adults.
Avoid baby sitters that are adult males.
At a get together watch your children and keep them in sight at all times.
Ask elders directly if they know of any abusers in your congregation, use specific names and note their reaction. They will not tell you directly but indirectly you can often figure out who it is. If one elder is less cooperative talk to another till you find out enough information to know the facts.
Check the local sex offender list in your area, type in the name of every person in your congregation to see if any are listed.
Notice any male member of the congregation that does not have privileges such as microphone or other duties around the congregation, especially if for a long period of time. They can offer talks on the TMS or sermons Service Meeting but are not allowed to conduct meetings. (This is only in case of a confessed child molester)
Note any member of the congregation that has children with sever rebellion or emotional problems.
Do not allow your children to have sleepovers with anyone.
Note members that the elders avoid having around their children.
If you are a member of the public and your community is on the list take the following steps to protect your family.
If Jehovah's Witnesses call at your home never allow them in your home
If you do not wish Jehovah's Witnesses to call at your home purchase a no trespassing sign and place it near your door. JW's are instructing to only respect "no trespassing" signs any other variation will be ignored.
If you do not wish Jehovah's Witnesses to call you can also call the local number and ask to be placed on the "do not call" list. They will note your home and check about once a year to make sure you wish to remain on the list.
If you choose to study with Jehovah's Witnesses do so at a neutral location such as the local Kingdom Hall or in a public place.
Never allow your child to be alone with members or their children.
If you choose to attend meetings with Jehovah's Witnesses then we suggest you follow the guidelines above for members.
Remember that most members are not aware of who the molesters are in their congregation according to church policy. They do not know.
If two Jehovah's Witnesses call at your door one could be a child molester. According to church guidelines all confessed child molesters are required to have a partner when going door to door. If two Jehovah's Witnesses appear at your door you might wish to ask if one or both are child molesters for peace of mind. Of course keep in mind if the person is an accused child molester they are allowed to work alone in the door to door work.
We hope this information is helpful and assists with the ultimate goal of silentlambs, protecting children. Check back as the list is updated on a regular basis.

Boston Mass.
Chicago Illinois
Baltimore Maryland
I guess I'll add:
Denver Colorado
Albany New York
Please don’t give stupid reason on why!
Just good serious reasons on why PLEASE!
Answer:
DC is good because,
many good paying jobs
lots to do, museums, nightlife, all sorts of culture
lots of ethnic food
proximity to both mountains and beaches, 2-3 hrs drive either way.
reasonable climate, it can get cold but doesn't stay extremely cold for more than a few days at a time during winter, not much snow and while it does get hot it is usually not unbearable.
bad because:
traffic sucks
house prices are unbelievable

Is it time for me to move out of my parent's house? Question: I am looking for housing that is about 500-700 a month. I would move into Chicago (Albany Park) and would be close to the place I plan on earning my Accounting degree from (Northeastern Illinois University). I would be able to transfer locations with my job and I currently make about $40,000 a year and I have about $16,000 in my bank account. My parents are paying for my car and insurance.
How do I meet people in Chicago when I am living there?
Answer:
If you're going to school, meet them in classes or at the union. Go out to bars, clubs, coffee places, etc. and meet people. Be outgoing.
If it is time for you to move out, sure if you keep your job. Should you? Your choice.

Best Political Science Program? Question: I was wondering what University has a good - great political science program and also internship. I'm a Junior. My GPA is about 3.4(88.00) and I'm taking my SAT in June. I'm located in New York. I'm looking for University in New York,Penn.,Wisconsin,
Illinois,Ohio,Michigan,
I was looking at SUNY Albany. It is located in the state capitol of New York and their internship program offer intern opportunity at the state capitol.
Penn State
University of Wisconsin-Madison
Any Suggestion? And are those universities I listed good choices?
Answer:
Any poly sci program at a large, public university will be heavily biased to the left. If that suits you, any one of them will do. As an alternative, I would suggest Hillsdale College in Michigan. A completely non-government funded school that values American heritage and traditional values. It maintains the highest standards and keeps its integrity by not bowing down to government mandates and far left tenure cabals.

Answer:
Not only social security, but schools and health care services are also being used by illegal aliens. They have no right to school or medical care if they are here illegally. They are breaking the law and they should be put in jail and then sent back to Mexico. Why should people who break the law be given any kind of reward or should be allowed to use any government benefits. I see all these rallies on t.v and they are all saying how they are Americans, but they are not Americans at all, they are law breakers and should pay like anyone else. I'm sorry that Mexico is so messed up, but it is not the job of the United states to help you out. I'm sure that if Americans started to cross into Mexico in huge numbers, the government of Mexico would be up in arms and the boarder would look more like a war zone. Mexico wants illegals here because it helps out Mexico, they don't put any money back into the u.s.a, they send it back home. And people also say how they are only taking jobs that Americans won't do, that's a bunch of crap, because they take good jobs from Americans and they drive our wages way down, why pay me 15 dollars an hour when they can pay an illegal 8 dollars to do the same job. Its wrong and has to stop.

Answer:
UNC has been to the NCAA Tournament 39 times.
5 Championships (1924, 1957, 1982, 1993, 2005)
16 Final Four appearances (1946, 1957, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1972, 1977, 1981, 1982, 1991, 1993, 1995, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2005)
The link that I gave you at the bottom was done before the season started. So it will say 38 tournament appearances.
It will also show that UNC has won 4 championships but they won in 1924 since there was no postseason tournament.
http://www.newsobserver.com/763/story/314844.html
Go Heels!!!!!!!!!
Also I know that this is the first NCAA Tournament for Texas A&M Corpus Christi, because they have only had a basketball team for about 8 years. I believe that is what I heard the other day when I watched their conference championship game.
I will let other people help you out with the rest.

Are Restraining Orders being Misused? Question: (Culled from a blog)
A principle of law espoused by Benjamin Franklin, is that it is better that one hundred guilty persons should escape than that one innocent person should suffer. Others such as Pol Pot believed the unjust punishment of innocent citizens is inconsequential so long as the guilty do not escape.
A bill before the New York State Assembly, which reportedly has wide support, would require every individual subject to a restraining order to wear an electronic monitoring device so the state can track them at all times. Leaving aside fears of a coming surveillance state, the proposed legislation ignores a fundamental problem with DV restraining orders – the large number of them that are unwarranted.
Considered in conjunction with the low standard of proof required for issuing a restraining order, this proposal does such violence to the principles of due process that it undermines the very foundation of a free society. The restraining order process circumvents the ordinary protections intended to protect the innocent. The standard of proof is not "beyond a reasonable doubt" but merely "a preponderance of the evidence". A restraining order is issued if a judge believes there's a 51% chance that the accusation is true.
Not long ago, the accusation of a deluded fan who thought NY resident David Letterman was harassing her telepathically was sufficient for a judge to issue a temporary restraining order against him. For anyone without Letterman's resources, the temporary restraining order would almost certainly have been made permanent.
A great many people targeted by restraining orders are not the monstrous brutes Hollywood would have us believe, but are rather innocent victims of the scorched earth tactics that are all too common among divorce attorneys.
In the Illinois Bar Journal, attorney Thomas Kasper speaks of restraining orders being used as "part of the gamesmanship of divorce." Elaine Epstein, former president of the Massachusetts Bar Association, has warned, "Everyone knows that restraining orders and orders to vacate are granted to virtually all who apply ... In many cases, allegations of abuse are now used for tactical advantage."
But surely judges who are sworn to uphold the Constitution will give the accused a fair hearing, won't they? Consider this – How fair a hearing can one expect from any judge who's been through a training like the one in which the instructor, Judge Richard Russell, was caught on tape telling family law judges:
"Your job is not to weigh the parties' rights as you might be inclined to do. Your job is not to become concerned about all the constitutional rights of the man that you're violating as you grant a restraining order. Throw him out on the street, give him the clothes on his back and tell him, 'See ya' around.' ... we don't have to worry about the rights."
How many other trainings like this, that weren't caught on tape, have polluted family law judges' concept of justice?
Less than half of restraining orders involve an allegation of any violence, according to a study by the Massachusetts Trial Court. RADAR estimates that in the U.S. every year, half of the roughly 2-3 million restraining orders issued are not based on even an allegation of physical violence.4
Thus a great percentage of restraining orders are issued against innocent people. And now the New York State Assembly wants to require all those innocents to wear an electronic monitoring device 24 hours a day, and no matter how uncomfortable these devices are, if they should "tamper" with it in any way they'll instantly become felons.
New York legislators face a stark choice: fashion New York law according to Pol Pot's vision or according to Benjamin Franklin's.
Please tell the leaders of the New York State Assembly that a huge percentage of all restraining orders issued are issued against innocent people. Ask them to oppose Assembly Bill A05424 and Senate Bill S04796.

Answer:
I bet most of the orders are filed by women, too. If a man filed one, he'd probably get it turned down due to the bias laws.
It is, indeed, utter BS that there doesn't need to be any proof.
Think about it. If your run of the mill, average joe (has no violent intentions nor has committed any violence or even threatened) gets slapped with a restraining order he's basically just getting screwed by the system, but he'll go along with it.
On the other hand, it doesn't matter who tells a dangerous / criminally minded person not to go near someone. They'll just do it anyway.
So tell me, what's the point of it in the first place? It doesn't protect anyone. It just serves stupid and evil peoples' interest by victimizing the innocent.

Anchorage, Alaska Newspaper endorses Obama? Question: That must be a real slap in the face for Sarah Palin!
In addition, all of these newspapers just over this past weekend alone!!:
The Birmingham (Ala.) News endorsed McCain on Oct. 26:
But there is something that separates the two men, and that is their records and core beliefs. As thrilling as the idea of an Obama presidency may be, we believe McCain is the better choice for America in these trying times.
___
The Montgomery (Ala.) Advertiser endorsed Obama on Oct. 26:
Obama is a transformational figure, a generation younger than his opponent, a man with both a lively mind and a caring heart, and the first major party candidate for president whose understanding of the world is not molded by the Cold War or the Vietnam experience.
___
The Portsmouth (N.H.) Herald endorsed Obama on Oct. 26
We have seen the young senator from Illinois grow dramatically as a candidate and prove his leadership in the most closely contested primary process in American history. Through one of the most creative and stable political organizations ever built, he has set the bar high and insisted that Americans rise above their partisan squabbles and fears to create a government and society that will work better for the common, long-term good of the country.
___
The Billings (Mont.) Gazette endorsed Obama on Oct. 26:
At this extremely challenging time, America needs a uniter, not a divider. In this economic turmoil, America needs a thoughtful, cool-headed optimist who envisions a bright future for all citizens. After several years in which worldwide respect for America has been diminished, our great nation needs a new leader who can inspire confidence at home and abroad. Obama is that leader.
___
The Elko (Nev.) Daily Free Press endorsed McCain on Oct. 24:
Neither candidate is recognizable today compared to who they were two years ago, before they started campaigning. The moderate, reform-minded man of integrity, Sen. John McCain, has turned himself into a right-wing Frankenstein in order to scare up voters from the Republican base. ... We have chosen to ignore the theatrics and endorse the man behind the mask, the John McCain who stands up to wasteful spending and isn't afraid to break through party lines to get the job done.
___
The Albany (N.Y.) Times Union endorsed Obama on Oct. 26:
We're always skeptical when a candidate for any office promises change or, as we hear around Albany so much, reform. Often, all we get are big campaign-season generalities and a postelection letdown. But as this presidential race has progressed, Senator Obama has laid out a detailed, credible, persuasive and encouraging vision of change. It is one we endorse at a time when change is so clearly needed.
___
The (Rochester, N.Y.) Democrat and Chronicle endorsed Obama on Oct. 26:
Obama ... has demonstrated focused leadership, intellectual heft, coolness under fire and an innate ability to stir optimism. It's telling that he surrounded himself with top-notch thinkers to run his campaign. That's a healthy sign that Obama will choose the best talent available as he charts a new course for the nation.
___
The Maine Sunday Telegram endorsed Obama on Oct. 26:
The person best suited to lead under these circumstances is the one most capable of inspiring Americans to have confidence in the future while also embracing change that will sometimes be difficult to accept. That person has to be intelligent, resolute and, above all, cool under pressure.
On paper, one would not expect a first-term U.S. senator from Illinois to be a person likely to bring those qualities to the nation's highest office. But over the course of an arduous campaign, that senator proved that he has the mettle _the demeanor, energy and policy positions — to lead this nation during a difficult time.
___
The (Lewiston, Maine) Sun Journal endorsed McCain on Oct. 26:
America needs change. We're torn, however, over scope. Wholesale replacement of ideology in the White House, with a likely Democratic supermajority in Congress, is a great concern.
The country needs a shift, not a swing, from its current course.
This will require cooperation between parties. President John McCain could be the cross-aisle consensus builder who could turn the country back toward prosperity.
___
The (Muncie, Ind.) Star Press endorsed Obama on Oct. 26:
Obama also has set an example by remaining calm during the financial collapse and in the face of an onslaught of negative and derogatory ads and inflammatory stump speeches, a good indication of his demeanor in office. It's also a leadership style that instills confidence during a time when Americans need and want that quality in a president.

This endorsements for Barack Obama have been astronomical! Sure, McCain gets endorsed, but NOT
Answer:
Media sources endorsing the Democratic nominee (especially Obama) is no surprise and carries no weight. The only remarkable events are when a media outlet endorses a Republican. Nothing new here. The Anchorage Daily News has a long unwavering history of being liberal-minded and has written against conservative policies for their entire history, to include attacking Palin while she was Governor.
The media is practically running Obama's campaign for him.
